Tacoma Double Cab Roof Top Tent Mounting

Well....it's my dd for at least a couple more months. After that it'll just be my adventure set up...so, you think mounting it on the cab will be too noisy?

Tacoma Double Cab Roof Top Tent Mounting

The tent weighs 180 lbs without the annex. It's a heavy unit for sure. I wasn't totally sure if the cap would handle it or not. Also...I'm sure anything on the roof affects gas mileage in a really bad way. Do you think I need to fix up an internal frame?

Tacoma Double Cab Roof Top Tent Mounting

It's a Jason cap. I bought in a hurry when I was heading out of town. It's not ideal but has worked without fail this long. I was considering a rhino rack heavy duty mounting system. They seem very solid.

Tacoma Double Cab Roof Top Tent Mounting

I just purchased a Tepui RTT for my double cab short box Tacoma. I'm currently running a regular cap in the bed and plan on keeping it for gear storage, frog, goal zero, etc. My question is this: Would I be better off mounting the RTT on the cap or over the cab? I know most mfg of caps will...

Looking for popup that would fit Tacoma

This is the exact set up I'm looking at buying this year. Can you tell me what suspension mods you did to support the swift? I currently have a 6 inch DB lift on mine (bought it that way) and plan on making it right with new coil overs/UCA's in the front and a new leaf pack in back to remove...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

Brian, when you speak of all terrain campers, is that a brand? I'm weighing all of my options at this point. Sorry to hear about your camper. 5 weeks is a good amount of time, although, depending on where you live, it might be ok to live this this time of year.

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

I took it to a place that specializes in lift kits. Looks like its a rough country 6 inch lift. So, with that said, the cross member has definitely been cut and replaced. I'm going to order some 33 x 10.5 BFG KO2's for it and replace the rims with 17" x 8"....looking at a 4.5 offset. I'm...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

projected....When I called up to AT I originally spoke to Mario. He wasn't available when I stopped up this week. Martyn spent a couple hours talking through a few things. It makes sense that the center of gravity might be off. What we really need is a flatbed finch for the 5' beds. I'll...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

Mr. Wilson....when I was up at AT Overland yesterday, we measured an extended cab tacoma's wheelbase and then measure mine. The wheelbase was the same. I think the flatbed measurement for hauling a fleet is 72 or 78 inches. Its only a foot to a foot and a half longer than the short box...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

bkg....its still a good skill set to have...I don't actually think a set of 33" tires will look bad. I think the 35's that are currently on it are way too big looking. I'll take a gamble and see how it looks.

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

Great feedback guys. I appreciate all of it. I took the truck up to Prescott this weekend and had the guys at AT Overland take a look at it. The two mechanics that do all the lifts said the it was done quite well. I was more interested in finding out what I'd need to do to fit a FWC on the...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

That's a great question Jerry.....I'm kinda kicking myself right now. I liked the color, model and 6 speed tranny. Plus, I'm not a big fan of the new body style. This thing was practically brand new so I figured I would tweek it anyway. So....it might cost a tad more to undo. The more I'm...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

Thanks for the feedback. Ya, I'm stuck with it for sure. It could be worse....I was planning on changing some things anyway. I'm not super familiar with lifting anything. I've mostly owned stock trucks and just drove them as is. If I take out the spacers in the front and back, would I...

    2015 Tacoma TRD Sport SB

I've found myself in a little bit of a dilemma. So, I bought a 2015 Toyota double cab TRD sport. 6 speed manual that's been lifted and has 35x12.5x20's on it. I drove it from Houston back to Phoenix and it obviously has some major power issues with the big tires. First question: Can anyone...

    Vehicle suggestions......

Great feedback. I hadn't really thought of buying something older and just going through it....motor, suspension, etc. That would make good sense. I've had some Ford trucks in the past and I know they're practically indestructible. Its a little harder to find aftermarket parts for them than...

    Vehicle suggestions......

I know the diesels cost a little more to maintain. I've had a few of them over the years. The fuel mileage on a 5.9 Cummins is fairly impressive. Not to mention they're run 300K or better on mileage. Might actually be cheaper in the long run....but I'm not certain of that.

    Vehicle suggestions......

Probably 75% of the traveling would be on the open road. I'd like the opportunity to get off the path for some remote camping during the longer trips. So, some off roading capability is necessary but its not the main focus. What kind of older rig are you referring to?? I'm a handy guy and...

    Vehicle suggestions......

Hello everyone...I've been lurking around the site for some time now. I've attended two of the expo's here in AZ and absolutely get extremely excited about the near future possibilities. I've been taking my time looking at all options but I think I've decided on purchasing a truck with either...
