New beast to the fleet....2004 K2500 Suburban

I have the GMC twin to that truck. I bought mine in late December 265,000 miles. Flew to Houston and pulled a 28' enclosed trailer all the way back to Idaho. Great rig.

    Replacing engine

A lot of what was said is correct, particularly not using a ratchet, use an impact on them. Here is what we do. Before we had a BG top engine machine, we ran seafoam through the brake booster vacuum line into the intake. Follow the instructions on the seafoam can. Wait 5 minutes after doing...

    Trailer build questions

I am currently build (well my techs are) an expedition trailer in my shop. (I'll post pictures shortly). I copied Box Rocket's design for the most part thus far. A leaf sprung axle is best with the spring on top of the axle. I am going to run 255/85 tires on both the trailer and my 2001...

    Donor roof rack channels

I want install a roof rack on my 01 ARE dealer topper. I've been told it's best to go to a junkyard and get some channels off something like a Cherokee or something. Can any you provide any advice if you have done this yourselves? It might also be used for a RTT, if that matters.

Had Cooper 255/85 ST's in the past, considering ST Maxx

The ST's were pretty loud. Anyone run both? Are the Maxx's more quiet on the highway? I am going to go back to a 255/85 from my 265/75 regardless so I just want a good tire with reasonable road noise.

    IronMan RTT

Saw one at SEMA. Anyone actually have one and use it on a regular basis? I need a tent that will sleep two adults and two little ones.

Solar, ARB Fridge, Sears Platinum PM-1 - Group Size 31M QUESTIONS

Sorry to rehash an old thread but I was reading and thought about this. I wonder if it would be best if one had a expedition trailer and the fridge was mounted in there, to run two cables from each battery post to the rear of the truck and have cables you could connect to a tongue mounted...

    OME for 2004 Tundra Doublecab

I have Donohoe CO's up front on my 01. I have OME with AAL on the rear. I have Bilstein 5125's on the rear with stock shackles. The OME leafs are ok. They flattened some even with the AAL in from day 1. I have the dealer option ARE topper, and now a customer rear bumper and tire carrier that...

    4.88, 4.56 for 255/85 3.4 V6

I'm not that concerned as I own a transmission shop, but I see your point. I never felt my truck revved out too much on the highway with stock tires. I'll probably go with the 4.88 set

    4.88, 4.56 for 255/85 3.4 V6

I got a free set of 4.88 gears from Dana Corp. I currently run 265/75R16 on my truck but I think I am going to go back with 255/85 Cooper ST MAXX here soon. I have a 2001 V6 Dcab (as if the handle didn't tell you that). I am second guessing the 4.88 gears after looking around. Should I just...

Old Spare Tire Space, what should I use it for?

I copied Willman's tire carrier and it was finished this week. I own a transmission and auto repair shop and had my exhaust tech build it for me when we were slow. I have thought about what I should put in the old spare location. I thought about a poly tank for water. If I start doing some...

Donor front and rear carriers for my 01 V6 with e-locker

I got a free set of 4.88 ring and pinions for my 2001 Tacoma with the e-locker. I'd like to get a set of salvage yard diffs to install my 4.88's in case I ever want to go back to stock. What other Toyota models and what other year tacomas can I look at it? I think the front diff with automatic...

Micro adventures of the NW rockies

We do a couple of those 47/48RE transmission a week. It could be as something as simple as your governor pressure solenoid. Were building one for a guy pushing 500 horsepower this weak in a 24 valve Cummins.

Micro adventures of the NW rockies

I live in the Coeur d'Alene area and own an auto repair shop. I have a lot of respect for the folks that do this type of traveling/living. If that Dodge ever needs some work and you are in this area. Feel free to PM me. We need to take care of each other.

RTT, specifically for dealer ARE Tacoma topper

I want to get a RTT for my 2001 Tacoma Dcab. I want to mount it to my fiberglass ARE(I think?) topper. (Whoever produced the dealer installed toppers on the 1st gen double cabs.) Anyway, I saw somewhere a discussion about using Thule rack or using the track from a Jeep XJ bolted to the...

    Oh Idaho...

I live in Hayden, in the Pan Handle. I just moved here and bought a transmission and muffler shop in April from Texas. We love it here so far. I just joined this forum today because I want to start outfitting my truck for more back country adventures with the family.
