Quadra Drive II in Current Jeeps

Regarding QD II performance in the recent snow storm on the east coast... I had a chance to take my new 09 WK thru some interesting stuff. I never once got stuck or even slowed down, including stopping and starting in drifts well above my bumper. The QD II and Wrangler Silent Armor tires were...

Newbie: Ready to build out an Expedition trailer

It might be possible to run this camper unit higher on the trailer, with the bottom level with the top of the 24" steel sides, preserving a great deal of storage below the camping unit. Depending on the weight, maybe the entire unit could be made to hinge to allow access to the storage area...

Newbie: Ready to build out an Expedition trailer

Don... That is a very interesting kit to use as a slide on with the trailer. But you're right. I'd be giving up a great deal of potential storage space to carry that unit. Plus, the system does not indicate how one would install/remove the unit.

Opps... - 2000 lb top wind jack included Regarding shocks. They did not offer any option for shocks installed at the factory. They said they never get the request. So, any shock mod will have to be made by me and a friend with a welder. :) The Hotwire is a fused, trickle charge capability...

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor 255/75/17 or BFG 265/70/17 or ....?

I also recently put the Wrangler Silent Armor tires on my 09 WK Grand Cherokee. I also looked at the Firestone Destination AT, Michelin LTX AT2 and Bridgestone Revo 2. I did not consider either the BFG or Grabber AT2. I picked the SAs based on reports from off-road users who found them to be...

Quadra Drive II in Current Jeeps

The ELSD is clutch pack based engagement, so the system can wear and need clutch pack maintenance. Fortunately, my 09 WK has a lifetime drivetrain warranty and I think they recommend checking the system every 15000 miles. There is also the possibility to tweak the amount of fiction modifier...

    Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor

I have a set of 265/60R18 Wrangler SilentArmors on an 09 WK Grand Cherokee with QDII. The SAs are excellent tires on the road and I'm running 37 psi for best balance of wear and road feel. So far they have been great in modest off-road testing and slippery conditions. I have not yet run them...

Newbie: Ready to build out an Expedition trailer

Don That's a great point. It's one thing if you can put together a hand rail or some other light duty metal on metal job. It's quite a different thing to trust the welds holding 2000 lb load stresses at 60 mph. :wings: What truck do you have? Drop me an email with your contact info...

Gary at Four Acres on Newport Pike. This is the 1st time I have worked with him, but a Landscaper buddy of mine recommended him and Four Acres highly. They have very competitive prices and aren't in a hurry to close you, but rather want to help you to get the trailer right. They also have nice...

Newbie: Ready to build out an Expedition trailer

Thanks Don... I have seen that sit and I will dig in further for ideas, as many folks fabricate from materials other than steel. EDIT: follow up comment: I spent a few hours on the TDT site and found a bunch of great ideas, including some additional ideas for the base trailer fabrication.

How is the stability of that camper/pickup body combo? It has to be a little top heavy unless you carry nice size fuel/water tanks down low.
