    GVWR exceeded by camper

There is a reason most TC manufactures recomend dual wheels for camper aplications like that. I have a similar camper to that and I use a F350 super duty dually. I also have a single wheel k3500 that i use to manuver the camper into storage on my property and it feels squirly. Also is yours a...

    school me on truck campers

I have a 2000 ford f350 drw with a 10.5 foot camper. I also tow my K5 behind it on a heavy equipment trailer. It has been up many back roads and light wheeling to disperced camping area's. Most of the time its not real far off the beaten path together. My total weight for all is in the...

    Say NO to Rock Auto.

Wow, a little harsh? Yea he should have checked the clearance of the caliper first. But working in a shop I can tell you that mistakes like this arent uncommon. People that do this every day become complacent. The last 200 calipers installed worked fine, this one didnt. The real problem is...

Tire size for a one ton truck 235/85/16 vs 265/75/16??

Coming from a tire sales guy, a heavy hard sided camper hauling guy, and one who dd's a dually, the 265's are the best choice for how you use your vehicle. I changed out the tires on my duall and swapped to the 265's from the 235's. The added carrying capacity was my main motivator. Also here...

Best way to store a truck camper outside?

We store ours on pallets. Same deal no weight on the jacks really just use them for stability.

    Real life MPG numbers wanted.

I have 2000 f350 crew cab dually, 4x4 auto with 3.73 gears and usually travel 70-75mph. It has a super chips tuner, exhaust, down pipe, and an intake. It will be getting a trans soon so hope fully all these numbers go up some. It scales by its self 8600lbs. My camper is a 10.5' older real...

Very Very Torn on Lifts! XJ

Because people all have different opinions on what looks good and what doesnt. I have a 94 xj with 5" of lift and 35's on it. Yes I had to trim but thats really not that bad of a thing. I still run the stock flares. I also have run 33's with 4.5" and 31's with just a budget boost and no...

New XJ good news and bad news

I would have to say 1996 is the best year. 96 has the best head, is obd2 (it is better for some people), and i like the older grill design better. I dont think though that you can go wrong with any of them after 1991.

    Is Bigger Better?

My ideal set up with out my kids ( just the 2 of us) would be a ext cab 3/4 ton diesel (most likely a f350 for the solid axle and cab0 space) long bed. I would choose a 9'ish slide in pop up and do a out door cassette toilet in a tent. It would allow me to be light, maneuverable, inexpensive...

    Is Bigger Better?

There is a balance of to small and to big. We have a real lite 10.5 slide in camper. It is about perfect in size for us (2 adults and 3 kids). It gets taken off road, nothing major but dispersed camp sites and forest service roads. We use it to take the off road rigs in the mountains for a...

    2008 F250 Build

What you need to focus on is load index instead of ply rating. Ply rating mostly correlates to air pressure which is mostly irrelevant.

73-87 chevy fender cutting pictures wanted

I run 40's on an 87 k5 with 4" of lift and very minor fender trimming. I have always had to trim the horns off the front fenders with 35's and 4" of lift. I have had zero problems with rust from it ever. But I always spray it right after wards.

    locker/lsd questions

My detroit is fine in the back of my k5 with a 14 bolt. I really have to jump on it to get the tires to chirp. It is mostly invisible until then. Its also not an issue in the snow either. Like larry i also have a lunch box locker in the front and i would rather an arb for select ability reasons.

Suburban 2500 vs Power Wagon vs Tundra

The choice between the powerwagon and the burb is a tough one. The tundra I dont really see being a contender. I would think what would you rather have more interior room or more cargo room? Also how aggressive are you going to wheel it? If you are going to stay on lighter trails and would...

I feel like a newb: lift for 255/85 required XJ

Mine is at 6" and 35's and i agree if i was going to do it all over it would be 3.5" and 265/75/16's

Suburban build out guidance and opinions

Thanks, I love the solid axle chevy's. I still don't see the need to up grade the rear axle? You really aren't buying you self anything in particular. If you were going to run 37's i would see the need but if you were going to stop at 35's the 10 bolt is plenty strong. KIS keep it simple

can anyone tell me what it will take to get 35s under there?

4 inches of lift should do it. I have seen a few like that and they look pretty good.

I feel like a newb: lift for 255/85 required XJ

They are vibration whores for some reason. Its not like the rear shaft is even that short.
