The smittybilt will be a decent safety net. The 8000lb unit is about the same form factor as the warn. It will not be a superstar performer, but it will work when you need it if you test and maintain it. I find them to be a bit slow, but I don't use it every day and didn't pay $900 for it. I...
as much as some people on here will frown upon it, the Smittybilt 10k lb winch is somewhere in the way of $400 and has a synthetic rope option. Just go that route. I have not had an ounce of trouble with mine in 3-4yrs of New England winters and such. Just hose it down with WD-40 every so...
The plastic handles are really weak. The best seems to be bolting some slide lock feet on the bottom and using that. It works well. I don't remember which slide lock base I used though.
The hitch gate has a pass through hitch so you could put the bike rack on the trailer with it. I just figured for the sake of tongue weight it would be best on the back of the trailer.
You could weld a 2" reciever onto the rear of the trailer and use one of the "hitch gate" spare tire carriers on it. Then on your solo trips, you can move that and the spare to the X5. That would solve most of your problems other than the winch.
Prado either has a petrol V6 or the D4D diesel engine and an option for a manual. The GX is only available with a 4.7l V8 and 5spd auto also rear air springs. The front clip is different only in sheet metal so slight trimming is required for Prado bumpers. The rest of the truck is essentially...
I'll second that!
Also the ARB Sahara bolts right up with a little fender flare trimming. The GX does have a different hood line than the Prado, so some have had to space their bumpers out to fit properly. If you space the sahara chrome bar a bit, the hood will close without moving the...
Looks great. A little on the large side for someone like me though unfortunately.
is the pipe going to the tent insulated? if not, that might increase your air temp going into the tent a bit.
My wife DD's our GX with the lift, bumper, winch and all. I love the color of your interior. I couldn't for the life of me find one when we were shopping.
you should have no problems with the engine. Enjoy never replacing the timing belt. I plan on eventually acquiring a BRZ which has a FB engine as well.
No, you just bought one that had the upgraded HG. Most people just throw a new HG on the motor when they overheat the hell out of it. But no one ever checks the blocks for true and then they have the problem all over again. I have a 2.5l turbo with 166k on it and it isn't babied. I wouldn't...
