I always expected that living in Los Angeles, though don’t think I have ever seen any ire directed toward me or my truck since I got it in 2004. I think the secret is actually using it, and not washing it ;-)
I usually keep the top off during the cooler months here and on at least three...
I have a 2018 LT diesel...I wanted the most stripped down one I could find for a daily driver...and the Diesel engine for the mpg and possibly some towing if my other truck ever needed a flat tow. I have an h1 as a toy to wheel/camp etc so didn’t need to go that direction. As mentioned above I...
Good to know and so weird — I wasn’t sure which would load better so I did an mp4 and QuickTime version and still neither will play back for me! I’ll delete the second one. Thanks for heads up
Eric glad you were able to help...I run into people on the trails all the time who don’t have the right tools (or any at all) to deal with anything out of the ordinary.
I was always amazed at how small some of the humvee suspension components were compared to the civilian hummer stuff. Good call with the 3.08’s, I am still running 2.73. I still have the “oh ********” chain wrapped around my drivers side motor mount from the BTM days. I miss BTM to be honest. It was...
Yeah...those trucks are so light and capable they are really point and shoot. I LOVED to BTM...relied on it for years but eventually I wanted to ease the stress on the driveline/reduce chances of breakage so went with lockers. Those hi-bias ratio diffs (pre 99) are amazing. I still have a full...
I am late to this party but in case you are still wondering...I have the safe jack and accessories and they are really beefy and well built. I have the 6 ton kit and want to add a 12 ton bottle jack with an adapter so I can use the same extensions. Solid stuff and highly recommended by several...
Glad you are ok...i ran with airbags for a while and this is the main reason I went back to springs...a couple of close calls from unexpected blow ups (years later and my ears are still ringing).
I have had an x-jack for quite a while and only tested it once to make sure it worked. I think it’s...
I have been wheeling and camping in my 97 h1 since 2004. Love the thing. It’s a lot of fun and definitely not uncomfortable...though as mentioned it is noisy and one does have to raise their voice to chat with the passenger...I have headsets and intercom to help with this issue when the top is...
We did go all the way from Frazier Park to Hungry Valley. It was indeed challenging for the Colorado — the wheelbase of the long bed was 10” longer (with at least 7” less ground clearance) than my truck which really contributed to a lot of belly scraping and some hang-ups. The rear bumper I...
Spent yesterday with a friend and his Chevy Colorado on Miller Jeep trail. I had not done this trail in over a decade so I forgot it was even there. It was good to see how well a near-stock Colorado did on the few challenges this trail has to offer.
My hummer is pretty stock except bigger...
I know exactly what you mean. Mine is extremely wide at 92” but shorter than a Camry — with rear spare its still over a foot shorter than my colorado. We do pay the price on some twists and turns and narrow spots on trails though.
Just went through this whole thread and enjoyed most of it. Definitely some good opinions and info to be heeded.
TwinDuro brings up a very important (and close to home) point - width. I am definitely in the minority as I wheel/play/camp/overland (sorry for the trigger word) in a hummer h1. Talk...
Holy crap! Didn’t know it was you. How ya been?! I am back in CA and have been too busy to spend very much time off road. Need to get the hell outta town and chill. Love your deep water crossing!!
looks like our trucks have similar tent set ups...what tray/bedrack did ya go with? I went with...
haha! They can definitely ride like a buckboard with the stock springs. Sections of washboard often make me think my whole truck is coming apart. I used to be on airbags...that’s one thing I miss about them
