Thanks...it took a while to grow on me but I like it now. Always wanted to paint it a darker color or even matte tan but never wanted to go through the pain in the butt. I figured I can’t be too choosy since they made so few.
I need to get it back out in the dirt where it’s happy...embarrassed...
Beautiful truck. I am interested -- as many others are I am sure! New to the g-wagon so pardon the silly questions -- was this imported since it's a diesel? And I assume this is registered in Cali?
Thanks in advance,
Ron Baldwin
Starting to get into a similar boat -- after my hummer putting a smile on my face for 13 years, might be looking for an older g diesel, which may be asking a lot (and will certainly cost a lot) for Cali.
love your truck! I have the same 12 bolts on my truck...no gun rack though :-)
my hummer's curb wt is 6610 and gvw 10,300...but that 3700 lb payload capacity drops to around 2200 lbs with all my gear/tools/spares/fuel/beer
don't get me wrong, I am all for having one (I say this while slowly stripping my h1 to be more bare-bones). I was spooked by several people I know who had issues registering humvees at dmv's, AMG's policy of dealerships not working on them as well as this letter that surfaced around the time I...
I assumed the absence of the 3 point seat belt because it was on the list and my friend's humvee doesn't have them -- maybe they do now? I know many of the things that were available on the hummer eventually made it to humvees, I guess this was one of them. The hood restraints are little...
As Matthew said it's DOT/NHTSA -- AMGeneral doesn't want civilians driving around in trucks that don't have 3 point seat belts, roll bars, collapsable steering columns or hood restraints.
here is a comparison (it's a big list, but most of the differences are very minor)...
this is great news for those of us who have hummers (parts availability/service). Looks like it is a street legal humvee (basically a stripped down h1) without engine and tranny for about $60k...
It's interesting how several keep bringing up that it only has 2" less ground clearance than an h1 -- that is comparing this truck on 44's to an h1 on 37's, right?
Looks like a really cool truck. I like it, but it's apples and oranges to the trucks it's "replacing"
