Single rear seat for the XJ question

Try a removable seat from a Chrysler minivan. They also hinge up, backs fold down, they fold back to sleep in and meet DOT requirements.

ARB air compressor under the hood of an xj?

Mounted inside on the bracket that supports the spare tire. It's dry, you can hear it when the lockers cycle on and off and it stays much cleaner and cooler.

While it may work for Dan, hanging that extra weight 3' south of the rear axle can have some negative effects on handling, as well as being in the way whenever the hatch is opened and finally blocking vision. For the number of times you will need a spare tire, bury that thing. Keep your life...

Just re-read your use and build goals and have to agree with other posters that the roof mounted spare is not a great idea. Unless you plan to sleep in the rig, think seriously about leaving the tire in the stock location. A 31" tire/wheel will fit. If not, run with the rear seat down or...

DO the SYE and add it to your build budget. You will need it sooner or later as your needs change and it can't hurt to have it. It also simplifies your life if you need to pull a rear driveshaft due to a failure and not having to worry about ATF coming out of your t-case. Finally, many of the...

    Light bracket wanted.

Not that it will help specifically here for his 1.25" tubing, but several of my buddies and I use these brackets from Ikea. They are called Stolmen brackets and are used in shelving. They are cast aluminum, have replaceable internal spacers for 1.50 to 2.00 inch tubing and work really well for...

Raising a bar pin upper shock mount...

Define a "tad" too long. The easiest is to do as mentioned and get a bumpstop properly placed on both sides. Another option would be some shock bumpstops like Daystar's compression bumps that fit on the shock piston rod itself. http://www.daystarweb.com/productdetail.php?productID=679...

    Aussie locker

31's and a lunchbox locker are fine as long as you recognize that you can't floor it every time you want to overcome an obstacle. I ran that set up and ended up going to a locker front and rear in my XJ with the stock D30/D35 and tires up to 33". I never once broke a shaft. The rig weighed...

    MT/R Update-

38 psi seems a little high. I'm running mine at 30 on the highway with a 4650 pound rig and they seem to be doing fine. Off road they work really well in the 10 psi range without beadlocks.
