How to weld with dual batteries, jumper cables and a welding rod- video

Great idea, until you go to start your vehicle again and realize your radio settings are lost /sarcasm Great video, makes me want a dual battery setup and this is one more reason to add to the list.

Not the most impressive, but works for what I've tried so far (which isn't much)

    Post your tents

The wife and I picked this up before our vacation. Even though the 10x14 size was only slightly larger than our "dome" 9x13; the amount of useable space was a huge difference. Only problem I had in the 5 times I set it up was a campsite that was riddled with rocks. I had a really hard time...

5 Gal US MIL Jerry Cans

I ordered new donut seals for the cans. I'm going to use them this weekend on a 2 day trail run. We'll see how it goes as I'll have one full can on my roofrack on it's side. As for the hammer, I already have one with me to put tent stakes in the ground so that's a non-issue about carrying that.

5 Gal US MIL Jerry Cans

My buddy gave me two cans. They look like the one in this auction. My question is; I keep reading that the spouts you can buy like this leak a lot. Anyone that has these cans, have you just resorted to siphoning the gas into your vehicle? Additionally, when they are full I planned to put...

Gears & Tires: What are you running and how satisfied are you?

I have 285/70/17 on my FJ with stock gearing. Takes a little more gas to accelerate, but after a few weeks I've gotten use to it. Cruise control seems to "gun" it more on freeway grades than before. Offroad the more aggressive tread and larger size have helped out to get a tire up over things.

Buy a WARN Winch, Get a Free Accessory Kit

Thanks that answers my questions. I do not have the winch or the snatch block. I'm assuming the kit has the new part number so all is well. Thanks for the clarification.

Buy a WARN Winch, Get a Free Accessory Kit

Yea this is awesome! I'm glad I didn't purchase my Zeon last month. I do have one question. It says for upto 10,000lb winches when I looked up the kit online. If I search, say Amazon, for Warn Snatchbolock; the snatchblock that looks to be the same one or at least of the same design is only...

DIY Fairing for roof rack. Would like advice.

Heat gun as mentioned. I made a fairing for my homemade roof rack and used plexiglass and used a heatgun to mold it around the corners. Additionally, instead of the ubolts, you can use automotive trim adhesive to attach it. it's like a superduty double sided tape. It's a little bit cleaner...

Winch Decision Sanity Check and Duty Cycle Question

I've never owned a winch, but I do recognize how invaluable they can be when you really need them. I'm planning to purchase one for my FJ Cruiser. I don't offroad every weekend nor do I currently get very far away from civilization. My future plans do include more expedition type things when...

Same Setup, Different Vehicle, Reduced Range

I ended up not needing a ground strap. The end on the coax was shorting the center conductor to the outer shielding.

No it's "mine" as much as a vehicle with a loan can be. Just was trying to avoid removing paint if I could.

Same Setup, Different Vehicle, Reduced Range

Would a ground strap between the bottom portion of the antenna mount and vehicle mount going to a ground point on the vehicle suitable for this? Basically providing ground to the bottom part where the cable attaches.

Thanks for the suggestions... Sounds like I'll need to get my multimeter out.
