    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Trailer has worked out great, out lasting the failing Rover. So we replaced Rover with the new JK - Had to 'un-flip' the axel back to its original configuration to size down to the stock Jeep height.

M416 Trailer Wheel Adapters for Land Rover DII

Everything needed to bolt Land Rover Discovery II wheels onto an M416 trailer. I had these adapters made - they worked perfectly - and have now replaced the LR with a Jeep. Sale includes - x2 adapters (AdaptItUSA made them; 5 on 5 1/2 to 5 on 120mm (Land Rover Discovery II), 2" thick, with...

Land Rover guy needs Jeep wheel info??

Built this trailer 3 years ago to tow behind my Land Rover D2. I had custom wheel spacers made to accommodate stock LR rims. It came out nice and has worked great for the last three years. I've recently sold the D2 and am picking up a '17 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (or simply a JKU? ...I'm...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Sorry for the delay - got caught up a too long work trip. That's a semi-gloss black. And the way I describe the spacers on page 1 of this thread is exactly what I asked for. The grease caps fitting was just good luck.

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Using the stock springs and no other addition lift, simply 'flipping' the set up, added 4 1/2". And very easy. Just invert the axle, and using same mount point, reassemble to bottom side of spring. I did relieve the hole in the axle mounting plate slightly to make room for nut that is on...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Thanks for the comments - This was my first powder coating experience, and very impressed with how good it came out. Now time for the 'top' or lid decision. Thinking I'm going to go extremely simple. I used the same Thule mounts I had used to hold the tent to the truck, just shortened the...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Tub back from powder coating A week late, tub is finally back from powder coating. Shop said their supplier had a hard time getting them the custom colored powder. And after the wait, color match way off. Although I must say I like the color. The Thule mounts will hold the RTT. More pics...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Apparently the "C" channel stock was not up to the challenge. Fabricated another one and backed it up with a scrap piece of steel I got at local fab shop. Ideally one piece of 1/4" stock would work but having trouble finding it locally. Better it fail in shop then in middle of night with the...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

In an attempt to utilize as many original parts as poss, I copied some other post's idea and simply extended landing leg. Found 4' steel "C" channel stock at the Home D. Thinking about carrying a wooden wedge for leveling when tent goes on. The $60 eBay DII rims (16" 'S' model, '03/'04)...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Yea. That was just a pic of the install process (beer break) - All the holes have rubber grommets, and that length of the 'harness' was wrapped w/ electrical tape end to end. All the connections shrink wrapped. The mil lights that came w/ trailer, which the last owner never used and came in a...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

No plans to as of now. Looks like the new tires will extrude about 2" - CT DMV laws allowed me to register it w/o inspection, and my local cop buddies tell me as long any load is secure and it's obviously not a road hazard, it shouldn't be a problem.

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Land Rover Discovery II wheel adapters Hub adapters arrived. Perfect fit. AdaptItUSA made them; 5 on 5 1/2 to 5 on 120mm (Land Rover Discovery II), 2" thick, with 14x1.5 studs, and 7/16"-20 lugs for adapter. The inner side is recessed enough to accommodate stock hub-centric flange and grease...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

Axle bolted on, park brake cable rigged, and both bearings repacked, thought I'd check tow height/level since stock wheels/tires are pretty much same size as LR tires to be used in the final assembly. By simply flipping springs/axle and using top lunette mount, by chance it's fairly level...

    GlobalJet's attempt at a M416 Rebuild

    Yes - Was going to have it blasted, primed, then painted by same shop who painted truck - Land Rover's Pembroke Grey, a color used on Defenders in the 90's. But, the coating shop tells me they can pretty much match color with pwdr coat, for less total cost. Tub on the way to shop;
