I personally have not done it, but I've seen monteros pulling very large party barge pontoon boats UPhill. I've seen pictures of decent sized campers being towed around. I really wouldnt worry too much, if you dont have anything very large.

How do you plan to mount your rack to the roof? The land cruisers have that rain gutter, which make it a lot easier to do so. Other wise, the plans sound good. Excited to see it come along!

Yes, my initial idea was to just swap the whole carrier. The "screws" seem to be fine, it is the threaded hole on the carrier that are screwed up.
