    Kayaks for water rescue??

I've paddled sea kayaks for 13 years and I think the concept is OK but as others have mentioned please get some training. A traditional (think "sit in") kayak is not the best to rescue someone who is in a state of panic. I have done a fair amount of rescue training including towing boats and...

    Scepter MFC can order...Any interest?

PM sent for 2 tan plus 1 spout. Can we specify for gasoline? I understand the gaskets are different?

    Another New M416

Thanks. Maybe once I make a new hard top for the trailer I'll sell it. BTW, it's original OD green.

    Another New M416

Mine doesn't have the custom paint and graphics! I have been looking for months for one and I had just given up and started to plan on fabbing one from scratch when this popped up.

    Trailer Lid idea

I'll measure mine this weekend and post it. Curious to see how square mine is (or is not).

    Another New M416

I just found last week a M416 in nice condition. :victory: The guy that I bought it from has already done a spring over and cut a tailgate into the tub. The trailer was painted not too long ago but needs to refreshed and I may lineX the inside of the tub at some point. Tires are good so...

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

Ok - maybe I might change my mind now! :Wow1: Funny thing is I have a tee shirt that says "Paddle faster I hear banjos!" Didn't Burt use a Bow? I haven't seen that movie in years.

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

This is a very interesting thread and is more or less the reason I stopped doing outdoor stuff with a friend of mine. I have been into hiking and kayaking for many years and have never carried a weapon. Tools yes (knife) but not a weapon. Now I should mention I have a number of them at home...

    Trailer Lid idea

I would be very interested as well. Could this carry weight for a RTT or bike mounts, etc? Would this be something that could be shipped knocked down? Just thinking to save shipping costs.

    "Safari Cab" modular hardtop project

Wow! I really like this idea. If/when it comes out on a JKU then I am all over it. My biggest complaint about the JK is I don't trust the OE hard top to carry much of a load and I don't like the idea of the noise generator cage/rack solutions. I would sell my OE top in a heart beat for one...

    Gotta start somewhere

Thanks to everyone that offered suggestions and I actually took one to heart and bought a M416! Now the fun begins.:wings:

    Locker / Gear setup...

Yep. Couldn't agree more and x2 for icy roads. SWB and lockers can make an interesting commute during black (really any) ice conditions. If you can swing the cost go selectable.

    JK X Suspension help

I always lean to BFGs too. I've got an auto with 3.73 and I think the Rubicon come with 4.11? I get right around 19 and sometimes 20 mpg if I keep it around 70 (downhill with tailwind:sombrero:). As long as it stays about 17 I can live with it. Looks like you have had a few JKs! I'm thinking...

    JK X Suspension help

Hmmm, I was leaning to the Duratracs too. They sound like a good compromise between an AT and MT tire. MT is out due to the winter conditions here and for drivability. Did they change your fuel mileage much?

    JK X Suspension help

Did you have to use wheel spacers (assuming you are on stock wheels)? I am thinking of doing exactly what you did. What tires did you go with? I was thinking around 285/70-17 to keep my stock wheels and hopefully no wheel spacers.

    JK X Suspension help

Maybe a leveling kit would be an option? They are a spacer kit with a bigger spacer in the front. My JK does the same thing (nose down). I have the tow package so the back is already "lifted" a bit and I too would live to level it out. Anyone try a leveling kit (3/4 rear, 1 3/4 front spacers)...

    2011 Wrangler rollout this summer

Sounds like you like turbos. Expensive when they die to replace. Not sure what you mean about 80's tech. Audi just adopted an Eaton system (moving away from exclusively using turbos) and the Vette motor is a screamer (to just name a couple recent examples). You will see many more...

    2011 Wrangler rollout this summer

Yes, the new motor is much more modern. I have done some work on it and it should be a big improvement over the current engine. Not sure about a turbo in a jeep however - I would pass on one due to durability and complexity concerns. Also, not much benefit to my type of driving and not great...

    Jeep (JK) auto transmission recall

I'm leaving for the dealer is a couple minutes. I never received anything on this but since I am taking it in for a shift issue I will have them do the "fix". Hopefully they will do the trans cooler in the furture - at least for the customers with the "tow package". I was surprised when it...
