Expedition wrangler lift question (OME lift)

I put 70K miles on my 99 TJ with OME HD lift, 1" motor lift and 1.5" body lift. The motor lift and body lift kept the drive line correct, so not T-case drop needed and no vibes. Ran 33X10.5R15 BFG ATs on stock wheels with one washer behind the passenger side turn stop. Ride was better than...

J8 to be built in South Carolina ???

Nice rig. What's up with those side bars hanging so low? Those boys in SC know better than that. Looks like they belong on an H2 street machine.

Gages Problem - 1999 Jeep XJ

The TSB is very clear on what the problem is and what needs to be done. I followed it step by step for my 99 TJ a couple years ago and have never had the problem reoccur. It does require you to remove the gauge cluster, cut away the existing connector and splice in a new harness. I stink at...

    ARB Snorkel on an LJ

The half inch forward is a good tip. I installed mine per instructions and have to loosen the upper mounting bolts on the snorkel to get the door off. No big deal, but just one more step.

    Baja Expedition

Three men in a TJ for 21 days...you need to think roof top storage or trailer. For three guys, I don't think a roof/trailer top tent is a good use of space. Use a conventional tent and carry more water/fuel/provisions. Recommend 33s. I run a 99 TJ with 2.5in Old Man Emu suspension +1.25 body...

bumper and hitch loads and breaking points

You want to look for a bumper that is mounted better than just the stock bumper locations. Why? Because you are going to use it for towing, extraction, and heavier loads (spare, rack, etc). Notice a few items on this example. The clevis mounts are butt welded through the back of the bumper...

    Rear platform/storage done in XJ!!!!!

Very nice job. Good idea to use the turn buckles and existing floor mounts. I once had an XJ and put some mounting brackets in by screwing them into the floor. VERY BAD IDEA. Let's just say the gas tank is really close to the bottom of the back floor. One suggestion...I would spin the floor...

    rooftop tents on sale again!!!

How does this tent attach to the rack? the only info I found on the web site said it used a zipper. I have a Pack Mule Trailer (Helder Mfg circa 1988) and would like to adapt a tent to the top using a rack of some sort. Thanks.

Congrats. Of the two, you definately got the better deal. See ya on the trail!

    98' TJ or 95' YJ?

YJ vs TJ I have owned two YJs (one manual, one authomatic) and now own a 99 TJ manual. The TJ wins overall for ease of modification, trail prowess and on road ride. A 2.5 inch Old Man Emu suspension on a TJ will do more for a TJ than a 4.5 inch lift on a YJ. The coils just articulate more...

Please tell me your favorite--or least favorite--Wrangler accessory supplier

I have been very satisfied with the bumpers, racks, and sliders from www.custom4x4fabrication.com. They are in OKC, OK and ship world-wide. I don't think they have JK stuff out yet. If you don't see what you want, call them and they will make it for you. Top quality and honest business...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

I think $600 a bit much for a tire carrier. :Wow1: Look at www.custom4x4fabrication.com For about $800 they have a WJ or XJ rear bumper, rear corner guards tire carrier combo that has tow points. In addition you can get their gas can carrier, high lift jack carrier and trail rack for it...

    So, I miss my LJ....

Congrats on the XJ. I have owned two and they were the best vehicles I owned. When my paint looked like yours, I opted for the full exterior Line-X application. I like to think I was the first to ever do this back in 1995, but probably not. I wrote for Cherokee America and many of the old...

    Fun scenario...bumper choice...

I have escaped many zombie hords using www.custom4x4fabrication.com bumpers on various vehicles (XJ, TJ, WJ) over the past 14 years. They make high quality, durable, and functional products at reasonable cost.
