Audi factory warranty is until 50k, they won't ever see me for repairs after that. I guess they lose :)

So if I read this right you need and oil change, pollen filter, tire rotate and brake fluid flush.
Local shop can change oil: $50
Order pollen filter from Atlantic British and watch this video:$30
http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/JKR500020.cfm
Tire rotate: Do yourself or pay oil change shop maybe $25 ?
Your now $105 Give or take with shipping/Tax
Now you just need to deal with the brake fluid flush. A local indy shop should be able to do that for a few hours labor (about $160)
So maybe $300 when it's all done.
Going to the dealer you are paying for convenience and peace of mind. Something to be said for that as well I guess. But what is that worth to you (and me)?

While your logic is sound, keep in mind the oil is $10 per quart x 8 quarts and the oil filter is $25 on its own.

I would also like to mention that it does sound like you got a good deal at The Shop, but the service did not include the brake fluid replacement. This is actually fairly important and I would recommend doing it at the 60k service since you missed it at 45k.

It is important because brake fluid by nature is hydroscopic meaning it absorbs water and moisture from the atmosphere. As the brake fluid ages in the system it absorbs more and more water to the point where the performance of the system will degrade (brake fade), and the "dirty" contaminated brake fluid can over time cause damage to the very complex internal hydraulics of the braking system.

You would be unlikely to see any damage to the system during the warranty period because it takes time to have a noticeable effect, but by the time it is too late at 95k miles and you are replacing a $4000 ABS valve block and pump you will wish you had done the simple brake fluid changes every 3 years!

Not really. You used them for the four oil services and that's what they wanted. Along the way they will do warranty work that they
"find" needs doing. Also they have the chance to sell you other services while you're there. And they build a relationship with you, which goes a long way towards selling you another Audi etc. it's a marketing gamble that pays off for Audi in the long run. Not to suggest you were duped are anything, it's good for you too. It's a win win situation.

By the way, for my 2012 Audi A7 the "Audi Care" package (which covers all services through the 45,000 mile service) was $795. I bought it because around $200 every 10k service was a price that seemed reasonable.

Heck for just about any vehicle, that is pretty good.

Also good to know the local independent shop can do it for a much more reasonable price. I would probably only have them change the oil and do the brake flush (maybe on the oil, I could probably do it myself). If there is an Amsoil equivalent, I know a couple of distributors and would stock up when they had a sale. However if Land Rover was offering the ~$800 for 50k worth of maintenance, I'd do it.

I'm getting hot and heavy on a LR3. Just gotta remember that maintenance and repair costs are going to go up. Doesn't help that I'm a tight wad.

Make sure the shop uses genuine/oem parts, keep all receipts, you will be fine. We have created a service book for our customers. We stamp, date and write what has been done when. A very good record for the customer and a great asset to show to potential buyers when they sell the vehicle.

You mean that you didn't know that if you can afford that kind of vehicle, you certainly can afford to pay for the increased cost in maintenance??

I am so, so sick of this BS logic of "if you can afford X, then you can afford Y." Wrong-o pal. The reason I can afford nice vehicles is strictly because I don't run to the dealer for maintenance. Have fun with your Jeep, you're doing a great job making us Rover guys like you folks.
