Not that my opinion matters, :) but I think you made the right choice on the bumper.
I followed a link on Binder Planet to this thread and joined this site just so I could say, WOW! Awesome!

Thanks! Pm answered.

the bumper is perfect. full coverage, a bit of a prerunner look and solid. :)

Thanks! I was really happy with the final outcome: simple, light, strong and should be intimidating if it should happen to fill your rear view mirror! :smiley_drive:

The large holes and skeleton-ized support brackets, will be extremely beneficial for cooling.
Personally I've never been a fan of the "cover the whole front end with tube". I understand it's importance, but I really like the way you kept things simple. Scouts have such a simple flat front end, they tend to look gaudy with tubes going all over the place.

Excellent decision (IMO), and a great job as always!

Thanks, I've always thought "too much" was "too much", nothing worse than a bumper built by somebody who just got their first tubing bender and decides everything needs to have a bent tube around it!

Fantastic build Rob. Not too many builders find a balance for these old irons. The axle width is a great compromise from full width (69") and stock (60" front & 58" rear).

Keep up the good work.

I really liked the stance (64 wms) now too, it seems very stable, but not too obnoxiously wide. With the 35s and 17's, it pretty much needed to be this wide and get full steering capability out of it. And thanks!

Fantastic build man, I have to send this thread to my friend at Here he knows a thing or two about these old Internationals, but here was the idea I went to with the head lights, Here with the turn signal in the headlight, just since I did this after I painted my chevy. But this thing definatly has my attention and I have subscribed :ylsmoke:

I really like those lights. A LOT! They would generally solve alot of my issues (working with turn signals always seems to suck). Thanks for the link!

The Scout loaded itself onto the trailer (I temporarily wired the winch up), gas tank shop is building the tank, then the spring shop will finish the rear spring packs. I will add the rest of the anticipated weight with sandbags distributed in the bed to mimic final fuel and payload weights. The spring buckets will also fit the Deaver prerunner springs that come in several different heights...if for some reason we need to change direction. The exhaust will also be done before I get it back. I have a few details to attend to once I get it back in my posession, then it will be off to wiring/ paint/ body.

As for me, I've been screwing around :smiley_drive: Shop is a complete wreck from finishing up the Scout, building christmas presents, building a swingset/playset/, and holiday cheers

I flew to Montana to pick up one of my customers projects:

And of course got a little side tracked on the way home...

One of the best threads on this site Rob. Stunning work from both an engineering and an aesthetic standpoint. Please keep us posted on this thing so we can see it in paint and in use-

C'mon, you're amongst friends... You can tell us if the swing set you built has dimple dies in it.

I noticed you started the Scout with an Esab, but in the later pics you have a Lincoln. My guess is that you still have both, but with different wire on each? If not, what made you jump ship?
