1981 Mercedes 300D - Immaculate

Bump for a beautiful W123. I'd love to have one as a companion to my W211 diesel daily driver. Whenever I see a 123 I recall back to 1979 when my mom was deciding between a 300D and a Cadillac Seville diesel. I vividly recall test driving the car (I was 17, I think) and loving it. Unfortunately, mom opted for the Seville. Beautiful car, but it ate up 3 engines.

I really like the 123 and 116 chassis MBZ's....I used to have an '82 123, and except for the cruise control (which never worked for more than a couple of days, even after replacing the module) it was a great car. Comfortable, economical (26 mpg at 80 mph with the AC going in the So Cal summer desert). And easy to work on! I'd do it all myself, and except for the injector pump and injectors (replaced at around 300K miles) nothing major ever went wrong with it...I even replaced them, with rebuilt units, and put another 100K on it before I sold it (mistake).

Is there a forum for that sort of MBZ enthusiast? I'd like to get another, or maybe a 116 (SD model)...

Bummer... I was going to recommend "that" forum but didn't realize it had a new name. You have to love these companies attacking their most loyal constituents..
