Gary,

Yup, that's the tire size. A bit bigger than I would normally have gone, but they fit just fine and ride well. The OME steering stabilizer really was a great upgrade to the steering (...o' wait..you have nice Power Steering....).

FJ40 bar will bolt right in. I need to drill the mounting holes in the rear fenderwells, and make some spreader plates for the underside, but it should be pretty easy.

Speedo was "fixed" last night. Took it apart and cleaned it, lubed it, and remounted the indicator. I also made some small, white marks at 10-80mph, since it's in KM. Looks like I can either re-lube the speedo cable, or, more likely, I'll just give Kurt a call and have a new one shipped down once I verify which one I need.

Looking really nice. Did those wheels and tires come off a Tacoma? I've never seen the Chambers on an FJ40 - I gotta say it looks really sharp!

American Racing is the maker; model is Chamber (I have those wheels on my Tacoma).

Good to know that they fit an FJ40 :daydreams about future possibilities:

Need Input...Paint Ideas....

Ok guys, as the build continues, I need some input. As many may recall, when I got the rig, it had old advertising on the sides. Much of it was scratched and had some air bubbles, so in order to allay any rust issues, the ads are coming off....

Now, I need some thoughts as to a respray of the rig, in the original color, or my other option would be to have local artists, and others in areas I travel to, custom paint scenes on the now primered areas....

I'm kinda leaning towards the artist idea....and keep the original paint as is...understated...

What say the mob?

Here's a pic, with the primered section in view:

After all, you are in with those artsy fartsy types. Personally, I'd put some gloves on young Teah and let her decorate it.

Go with the original color, it's unique enough with out all of the local flair on it.

But it's yours and your opinion is the only one that really counts.

Or you could put stickers on it.

Here's some:

For the Aussie flair (I know what Kangaroo Court actually means and am not insinuating that you are into those practices)

The latter.

OK Andy,

In reality, you are probably going to have it pimped out with all the gear that is too **************' so I'd say do whatever will blend the best and not attract too much attention.

What about painting the whole top white, and leaving the rest of the truck as-is. That way you'd cover up the bad, and leave the good, and hopefully not stick out too much. It'd look more like a series or wrangler hardtop. Not to make it look like a rover, cause it's way cooler, just seems like an easy way out.

Kinda like this:

Just an idea.
