it was a 3/4 ton and the PO had already put a 14BFF in place of the 14SF, the front though was a stock 3/4 ton 10 bolt. I never really wheeled it hard and only had it for 6 months before trading it for a stepside big block.

I've noticed the same thing with some of my filters lately. My experience is the flat topped filters seem to get stuck on and compress the gasket to the point they leak a little after a few heat cycles. Dished top filters were the threads are below the top of the filter don't tighten up like this or leak. AC has gone to the flat design and so have many others. Auto lite and Bosch still use the dished design. I have switched over to the dished design to avoid the filters being stuck on and leaking.

After admiring lots of other builds from different manufacturers, I still come back to around to realizing for my usage a Suburban is just the ticket. Kind of like the Swiss Army Knife of vehicles. Simple basic construction, easy to get parts (mostly) and no brand name price premium. It can do anything any similar sized vehicle can, sometimes better and does it with zero fanfare.

Even now Chevy still gets it done with a simple OHV engine that rivals the competitors OHC, DOHC and Twin Turboed power plants and gets better mileage to boot.

I dub thee 'MunsterMobile'.

BatBurb?

'FedMobile'?

heater control valve? My '85 C-10, the heater core is a continuously open / circulating loop sort of thing, and the air blend door is a flap actuated with a cable from the dash temp control. My understanding is the guts of that system were pretty much the same from '73-'91. Then it became electrical actuators and still uses ducting doors? What is this 'heater control valve' of which you speak?

LMCtruck.com and junkyards are about the only place I can find some parts for my old '85 anymore.

if you only have one heater core then yes there isn't really a "heater valve" but when you have a burb with a front heater core and a rear heater core, then there is a valve/hose junction. LMC is the only place I have found one for sale and they want $120 for it. D-rat is checking his stash to see if he has one for me, or I will just have to wait until the first of next year.

here is a junky cell photo of what it is.

doing my research on cargo drawers, I built one in the back of my 4runner that I had but it was very basic and had no bearings or anything, it was just friction and weight that held it closed, it was a pain to open and close but it was short so It was do-able. I am wanting to make a better one for the suburban and the friction style wont work because of how much longer the drawer is going to be. I am the only one working right now so I don't have the cash to go buy one off the shelf. so right now I am doing my research on different types of slides or bearings for cargo drawers.

we had some rain lastnight then it snowed about 2-3 inches, locked the hubs in but didn't engage the 4wd. no issues coming into work and the last bit is up a pretty steep incline, when I goosed it they would break loose but as soon as I let up they grabbed again. so I would say so far the tires are nice, we will test them in deeper snow later this year early next year going ice fishing.

Well I am hoping your fine rig is getting the attention that it needs. Cheers, Chilli...:)

not really, I still have a box of parts to install, this last week was busy during/after work and Saturday was our annual inventory in the morning and company Christmas party in the evening. this week is another round of serialized inventory but this weekend will be the first chance I have to install any of the parts. I have just been driving it back and forth to work, filled it up last week :Wow1: this thing has the big tank in it.

I built my own cargo drawers using skateboard bearings and 1x1 aluminum square tube. I should have some photos in my Woofwagon thread of the build. It's all out of 4x8 plywood and 2x8 sections.

so when I got the suburban the blower motor didn't work, replaced it and it worked great for a week, then high speed quit working lol. ordered a new blower resistor last night, will be here tomorrow.

it has been raining/snowing every day so I have gotten like half an hour each day to do something with the suburban, so this update is just small stuff, I still have a whole box of stuff to put on it.

replaced the blower motor relay and the fan works on high again, the prices were cheap so I replaced the blower motor resistor while I was at it.

the windshield washer pump worked before but the hoses running to the wipers was ripped and split so when I hit the washer it shot out in front of the vehicle lol, just picked up some vacuum line and used it.

installed my LED light bar I had on the 4runner, its just a Chinese built one but man this thing is like turning the sun on.

organized the back, instead of all my tool bags just being tossed in there I put them in a Rubbermaid action packer I had in storage. I remember these things being more resilient when I was younger. I also put the stock jack back under the hood.

Haha my washer fluid did the same thing. Ann and I were joking around that we might need to rig it to be a directional unit and have some fun at stoplights and such :) Alas, being the "grown up" that I am I fixed it to work normally. For those of you looking for tubing for this, small engine fuel line also works well and is available in long enough lengths at Advanced Auto.

Well the wife came up with the name for the burb, we had 3 inches of fresh snow yesterday then it rained off from 6 hours of rain, and we woke to 5 inches of snow and its still coming down hard. the burb just cruises around with no issues, the wife says the YETI is in its natural habitat.
