$11,900
1991 Mitsubishi Montero
194,200 miles
Owned since 2022 and put on 15,000 miles. I daily drive my various old rigs, rotate various ones, as I have owned them. You really find out the good and bad when you drive them 10k or so miles per year. I need a rig that is dependable so I fix it when it is needed. The weekend, 5-10 miles to the store, type rigs it is easy to overlook those repairs.
Work and parts
Rebuilt engine appx 700 miles
Newer tires – 4000 miles on them, all 5, appx – over 1200.00 - cooper AT3 LT
Fifteen 52 Wheels – all 5 – over 1500 plus shipping
Scheelman Seat – have original as well, no bouncy mounts – 1800.00
Luso Overland new coils and torsion bars
Work done under my ownership
Rear brakes
Rear axle seals
Windshield washer pump
New radiator (with engine rebuilt)
Rebuilt ECM appx 500 miles
Front Runner Load bars
Black Oak LED cube lights
Rear ladder
Spare tire cover
Overall a very solid truck. Previous owner did paint job. As he would call it, and I would agree, 10’ paint job. Sand color is a Jeep Gobi color chip. Decent paint job, but not great. Some of the edges/trim taping wasn’t probably the best. The roof – white – plastic dip type product. Not a huge fan but it works.
Cracked windshield, I have left in place, no leaks. I have a spare windshield and seals.
Lots of other parts, including various trim, door seals, window seals, grill, bumper, and whole bunch more.
No rust issues.
A serious buyer we can do a facetime type call and I can walk through stuff, show stuff, test drive, etc…
What I would fix:
- Tranny drips some, not major but not bone dry either
- Front right brake, maybe caliper, pulls some, works but could be better.
- Steering box. Ok for driving but when you drive more modern, newer rigs and then jump into this one you notice some slop. It is not in the idler, pitman type area. Reall seems like in the gear box or the universal joint going into it area.
I have a spare, parts rig, 1989 Montero, but it is manual, 3.0L, 4 door. Parts type rig. 500.00 if sold with this rig, 1000 by its own.
All glass good. Engine blown. Various other small parts missing. Have title. But I would call it a parts rig. Most body panels in good shape and don’t see any rust issues.
