Having a little bit of a charging issue, a new alternator might be in the near future....

But it did tow my new saw a two hundred miles home with me, and did it well. No overheating, cruised at 55mph no problem, and got 15mpg the whole time on average. Granted it’s starting to leek a bit of oil, I think from the valve cover. Fun...

Figured it out, new track bar on the way from IRO.
However in the meantime, I just installed a new JCR steering box spacer/brace and a new KYB steering stabilizer.

However when I took off the bumper to install the spacer I found this on the drivers side...

If you can tell by the shadow it’s pushed in about an inch. There is some nice Mickey Mouse fixing going on. Any suggestions on how to fix? Weld on a new plate? Clamps? Heat? BFH?

Put a multimeter on the battery while it is running and see what voltage reading you get. The gauge in my 93 will read low, sometimes 10volts, but always 13.8-14.3 at the battery and it starts every time.
I would look into a steering box brace as well once you get that fixed up. I have an Ironman 4x4 fab brace on mine.

My wife brought home a 99 Xj a couple months back, I crawled under it last week and found some frame damage as well. Love surprises!

I am a huge fan of the BFH, which I would use here for sure. I would not heat it, but I would try and work the metal back to its original position. Replacing it may be frustrating in such a confined location.

Welp, got some work done today. Passenger side fender was all bent up at the bottom from my father in law hitting a guard rail in an ice storm last year in Oregon. So let the cutting begin!

And don’t worry, I got it all cleaned up and sprayed it with some white primer for the mean time.

I also sprayed the whole front under carriage with Super Clean de-greaser and gave it a good spray. I’m trying to find a oil leak, I’m thinking it’s coning from the oil filter housing, but we’ll see.

I also ordered new calipers, pads and rotors, so I gave all those bolts a good spray with PB Blaster as well as the whole track bar. New IRO track bar showing up soon!

Managed to put the wheels back on last night. Looks pretty good! Can’t wait for my track bar to get here so I can stop hearing that clunk in my steering... and get the rears cut and folded!

Got back to work on the Jeep yesterday to fix my front end clunk. I up graded to IRO double sheer track bar, and switched out the old sway bar bushings. Everything came out super easy, except the axle end track bar bolt. That sucker was one PITA!! I tried cutting the track bar to relieve and stress on it...

didn’t work.
I then resorted to cutting the track bar again as close to the axle end as possible, so I could then cut the housing in half. That also didn’t work. Once I got it off, I then had to cut through the rubber bushing and though the bolt sleeve and bolt in multiple places to where I could pry it out. Finally in about 6 pieces I had that sucker out.

The bolt had welded itself onto the bolt sleeve and would spin, but would not come free.

This thing is beefy!

The track bar went in just fine with a little fine tuning. The stance is still off 1/4 inch driver, but I wanted to let it settle before I keep tweeking it.
I also put a quick coat of rust killing paint on my sway bar and brackets before reinstalling it with the new MOOG bushings.

Everything got a good hit of Super Clean degreaser and was hosed off so I could put some black rust killing paint on a lot of the old suspension parts that were showing their age.

Looks pretty nice under there currently. And it already drives much better.
I still need to remove the sway bar links, hammer out the lower bolts and replace them with some grade 8 hardware. As well as put some multi-purpose grease in the sway bar link bushings.
Next up will be brakes and steering.

Well today I switched out the factory axle side sway bar mounting hardware, for some 1/2” grade 8 stuff. Locking mute and all so I don’t have to use locktite in case I go off-roading sometime soon.

Factory bolt was bent (if you can’t tell)and kept wanting to come out.

Got it stopping better this weekend. My left caliper was failing and threatening lock up, so I got a new Powerstop kit to replace everything. My local yard wanted the same amount for junkyard ZJ parts, so I just replaced it all with new.

Finally got some more work done. I’ve just been driving it and trying to fix little gremlins. Well I got the beginning of my roof rack all welded and ground today. It’s all fabricated out if 1x1x.095 and .75x.75x.083 square tubing. It’s 76x48”. I wanted it to accommodate a sheet of plywood but not overhand the windshield. So 76” long it is.
Tomorrow hopefully I’ll get the mounts done

Well, a little progress for the day. Got the mounts all tacked up, getting it roughly level and equal took forever!! But I’m liking the look.

For mounting I used all the factory holed and a strip of 1.5”x1/8” stock.
