Regarding the CA smog issue.. if the title has it listed as a diesel then anything 1997 and newer I believe is smog exempt in CA. Not sure if this remains the case on a vehicle that was originally a gas....

hard to tell under the air cleaner........ is that a 617A? aka...... turbo diesel? How well does the overall ratios work with the lower rpm's of the diesel? Can she cruise at 65? or you stuck around 55?

Yes it has the turbo. she cruises no problem at 70-75 around town. gets sluggish once you hit some hills. A lot of talk on blogs and forums about tuning the injection pump, swapping the original turbo for a larger one and apparently getting better torque and more hp.

Well I guess however you read it but PRE 1997 is prob a better way to say it.
