1997 FZJ 80 Landcruiser (expedition style, mechanically refreshed) $15k - OBO

Selling my 1997 Landcruiser; tons of mechanical work done and it runs absolutely great for a 26 year old 4x4. Surprisingly easy to drive considering the size and age. Looks great from 10 ft. away, but it’s been used as an expedition type vehicle, so there are expected cosmetic issues which I outline below. Due to growing family, I'm just consolidating the fleet down a bit to a bit safer modern vehicle, nothing to due with the vehicle itself. All info below the first picture.

Location: Austin TX

Price: $15,000

Mileage: 296k

Basic & fun stuff:

  • Ironman lift – about 3 inch lift
  • ARB front bumper, Warn m8000 winch
  • Rear tire carrier, integrated in to stock bumper.
  • Nitto Terra Grappler tires (315/75/16; about 20k miles)
  • 80/20 roof rack with front runner wind deflector.
  • Solar panels (two 50-watt/panels – only 1 on car in pics but 2nd will go with car)
  • Center console base + refrigerator (best mod I’ve done??)
  • Dual battery, with basic voltage auto-switch.
  • USB ports in center console
  • New corbeau front seats (seat covers on, so perfect condition)
  • Delta rear track bar riser bracket.
  • touch screen radio
Engine/Mechanical (if no mileage, sometime in last 20k, just can’t remember when):

  • Heater control valve + hoses (265k)
  • blue fan clutch (265k)
  • plugs, wires (265k)
  • Front crank seal (272k) + seals; coolant flush.
  • all new brake pads, new rotors front and rear, brand new rear calipers! (272k)
  • Front birf rebuild, full steering box rebuild, steering pump hoses, valve cover gasket (275k)
  • control arm caster drop brackets (280k)
  • hand throttle
  • misc hoses, belts (280k)
  • Valve stem seal job + New radiator + new engine mounts (287-288k)
  • New front control arm bushings + alignment + new ironman front track bar (287k)
Miscellaneous, and I'm sure I left something out:
  • Speedometer correction for big tires (adjustable, so can buyer can revise if different tires put on)
  • ultragauge engine monitoring
  • misc exterior LED bulbs (diode dynamics headlights)
  • wheel well lining/rubber, oil catch can.
  • sway bar drop brackets, control arm drop brackets.
  • steering damper
  • hood struts
  • fusible links
  • Charcoal Canister
  • some spare parts, wires, belts, stock roof rack that would go with the vehicle. all windows, sun roof works perfect.
  • For carfax people - I bought the car out of an estate 6 years ago. When I bought it was “bonded” title since they lost the document (and didn't have the money to pursue a full estate proceeding), but the bonding period automatically expired at year 3 – I will provide/sign any and all forms you need to get clean title (I checked with DMV, should be very easy). So, you will get clean title. No liens.
Old car stuff:
  • There are some dash cracks in the dash, but only one visible from driver seat. You can see the visible one in the pics. There are 3-4 more behind the gauge cluster.
  • Steering wheel cover could be replaced.
  • In sustained absolutely monsoon rain, the water comes in to the headliner; seems relatively minor and I think it’s a disconnected sunroof drain.
  • Paint is tired - some yellowing on front fenders, unevenness, some clear coat peeling on front fenders. miscellaneous scratches, etc. It's been in the wilderness! It looks fine from a distance, but look closely and it's noticeable.
  • Miscellaneous interior issues (some cracked a/c vent things, brown spots in carpet, etc.). Rear seats are in OK condition though some old leather symptoms (damn kids got some pink nail polish on it, will try and get it off! you can see it in pics), and comes with the third row also.
  • added some pics to show general condition - I will have it thoroughly cleaned.
This is an absolute beast that runs great, I would take it anywhere (in fact, towed a small camper-trailer to big bend in scorching heat recently and it was great!).

bump. If you want more pics just PM me. I can get some more of engine bay, paint (remember, it's been used), tires, undercarriage (which is in great condition).

paint condition. doors & pillars in great condition, hood is basically perfect condition. Clearcoat coming off on front fenders.. this was taken to make it look the worst possible I could. Can't really tell from 10-15 feet away (see first pic). value of this rig is the extensive (and expensive) mechanical refreshment, extensive upgrades (suspension, bumper, winch, swingout, LEDs, fridge, front seats, solar, dual battery). I would take it anywhere.

Good luck with the sale - I am quite curious as to the make/model of the center console fridge if you don't mind. Been considering doing something similar in my RRC.

it's a dometic CDF 11, I believe. I ran a blue sea fuse block off the second battery, then to a cigarette lighter type plug for the dometic which is mounted in the base attached to the vehicle. The base is a custom metal base made by delta vehicle systems for 80 series landcruisers.
