Oh god... this one I gotta see finished... I just rouned my keyboard drooling over this. hell I saw the thread title and couldn't click it fast enough. From one 1st Gen 4Runner guy to another... this is AWESOME!!!!!! I always find it funny how everyone is trying to figure out how to do this with jeeps and yet the 1st Gen 4Runner is by far the best platform for this kind of mod aye. They really are some amazing little trucks.

Cheers

She is mounted!

Today I got the FLip-pac mounted and dorve it back down to Los Angeles, 115 miles.
Added some 100lb. 14" coils in the rear to compensate for the weight.(Zuk mod)
Drove as expected with the added 300ish lbs. Kept the lead out of my foot. I think the MPG is close the same as it has been with the soft top. I believe all the drag from the soft top and sides rolled was sucking the mileage down.

I still need to finish the brackets and supports for the deployed sleeping area. Cleaning up the interior, new mattress, make a mattress cover, and cleaning the tent are next but she is in her driveway.

Anyway here are a few pictures.

Jason,

Absolutely stoked for you man, Looks great and and it looks like it's gonna be heaping handfuls of fun. Been telling an "internet challenged" friend of mine about your project as he too is an early 4Runner enthusiast and the envy is certainly there. I reckon that lots of folks will see your setup as "the ideal" for early 4Runner camping/wheeling arrangements. I know that I do and can barely wait to see the next set of photos from you.

Love it!

My imagination is running wild with all the cool stuff you could do with an interior build. Having latches you could work from the inside to allow you to depoly the flip-pac without even leaving the truck would be a game changer. You'd have to get out for the support struts, but still...

Awesome work!

Thanks Palehorse-
Everything so far has been a learning experience but I wouldn't have changed the project for anything.

Congrats on finishing! Looks real good.

When I get back stateside I'm gonna try to hit mine hard and heavy.

Lets get a mini 4runner/flip-pac camping trip going up near you.

Thanks Trump. I like that idea of opening from the inside!

Yeah the roll bar is removed. I may make an internal roll bar from the 4 corners of the bed to utilize the cargo, not sure.
I dont haul passengers in the back so its not a huge concern for me right now.

Thanks guys!
Can't wait to put the suspension, headers, and exhaust on. And decide on what kind of lockers to put. Im leaning towards the Spartan lockers front and rear. Seems the price, simplicity, and reliability cant be beat. I would love to hear any opinions on that. The Spartans run between $250-$350 and I can install them myself.
