This my 87'. Bought it from a friend who was the original owner. Slowly doing a resto/mod.
Just got back from the Rubicon...with body damage. I had to do it before it gets repainted.

This 1KZ-te turbo deisel took me two years to transplant. What a great powerplant! to bad we didn't get them here in the U.S.

HEY HEY!!! Glad to see you here mate. I'm Dave and we were chatting over on Marlins board about your swap (thanks again for all the helpful info). I bought a 2nd Gen/1kz-TE up in the Kent area and I'm hoping to have it in the shop to get the motor mounts done up here in the next week so I can get working on her again.

Gonna be REAL sad to stop driving this little beauty though...

my rig at the Rubicon: 1986 4runner, SAS, 22re, dual cases 2.23 & 4.7, 5.29's, Detroit lockers front and back, York OBA, hydro assist, forged beadlocks with 37" MTR's, etc.

Hey there This is my first time posting, so please bear with me. I've been a lurker for some time and signed up a while back. If this comes out, this is my '89 4Runner, Hoss, coming down Tincup Pass. Nothing really done to it yet, but I have plans, so we will see what unfolds! You all have some nice rigs! I appreciate the sharing of pics and help in this community!

Just got an 1986 4Runner with the 5spd, 22re, compete with blown rear shocks and saggy rear leafs!! Bought it as basically and expo platform, building it to take me on all my outdoor adventures including mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing, and more, as well as medium wheeling trips. So far I have been incredibly impressed with it! I am in the process of welding roof racks for it, then hopefully suspension in the spring!

Here it is wheeling on Bald Mountain, above Fresno, CA.

And my sleeping arrangement in it!

Nice '86, Kyle. Looks like it's set up nicely for use.

BTW, the rear springs likely aren't sagging. It's an illusion due to the raised, prerunner-style front fender arches in the early 4runner design. That's the original, factory stance.
