Still working on mine. Trying to figure out a clean way to run the intake into the cab from box.
Will probably add some quick disconnects on the box for the power and controller.

Late to the game here, but do you leave the box open for air intake? I have the same rigid box I’m working with....

Nah. I cut a hole on the intake side and close the box to keep it waterproof. Keeps the internals and fuel warm. I run kerosene only so freezing isn’t an issue.

Here's what I ended up with after a bit of experimenting. Works pretty well so far and eliminates most of my concerns.

Also, for anyone building one. If you don't mind the extra weight, the Husky diamond plate toolbox is a great solid fit. I decided against it for my use and went with an aluminum box I found on ebay.

OK, was looking at gasoline heaters. Got sidetracked on a coleman lantern/stove thread and there were comments about the white gas (coleman fuel or private label) is so much better. Doesn't clog generators, better heat, better light, better shelf life, etc.

Ignoring the economics of the fuel, what would be your thoughts on running white gas in a gasoline heater? Since the heater is functionally more like a coleman stove than an internal combustion engine. You don't need octane. You just need it to light and burn clean.

My reservation on the gasoline ones, which I'm probably about to buy anyway, is that it's taken years of exploding vehicles to get modern reliability and safety out of automotive fuel systems, especially the ones we like to crawl offroad in and shake up all the time.

There is no way every install of a petrol furnace is as safe and durable as the rest of our overland vehicles are. Luckily, gasoline has a very strong smell so just maybe you'll get a warning first and can update your will.

The idea of a Chinese knock off PETROL furnace scarces the shite out of me. I would definitely go with quality if going with gas over diesel.
