I'm really digging your truck. Very similar to what I was going for back when I had my camper top. The front and rear bumpers are awesome!

Brief hijack here...

Hey Kurt, you mentioned doing a write-up on the end-cap mod a little while back. I'm going to drop my ARB pretty soon to do just that - refresh our memories and encourage us with a little guidance from "the minds at Cruiser Outfitters"...

End hijack.

Scottn - I'm sorry man, but these Tacoma's are just sooo overdone, it's just not doing it for me. This one is particularily ugly... (see sig line below). ;)
X 3 do the end cap mod.

I need to do this as well, I should have done it from day one + fix a stripped weld nut on the bumper that bolts the bumper to the crash can. Getting a lot of vibration... I only had access to a garage to install my lift so time was a premium.. oh well.

Scottn.. Nice looking rig BTW!

Thank you. I could not figure out what anyone was talking about..

Sorry for the lack of responses, I decided to go skiing instead of taking pictures. I will get to it asap..

Thank you all for the nice comments and your patience.

Ok, back from skiing. Wow what a weekend, well my weekend. Mt. Massive backcountry.. Unreal.

So I picked up my Toytec Ultimate lift kit today and installed the front in 45 minutes. Man they really make it simple. The ride difference between my old Rancho 9000's/Stock 3inch Daystar/Stock springs, and the Bilstein's/650 Coil overs is unF**king real. Handles better, rides better.. Cannot say enough.

The guys at Toytech are really nice and admired the bumpers as well. Ben had all the parts ready to go when I arrived fresh from the mountains and skiing.

Tomorrow comes the new leaf springs and shocks. If they even do half what the front did, this lift kit from them will be worth every penny.

I will post some pics asap. :sombrero:

Here is a pic of the Toytec Front Coilovers. Easy install by far.

Some details of the rear bumper holder pins and mounts. Note the grease-cert.

how much did that rear bumper cost ya? I don't see anything for the Tacoma on their website, was your truck a one-of deal?

ur bj's and cv's hate u right now. id really suggest cranking those coilovers down quite a bit

Never mind sasaholic. ;) I have 3 CVs, 2 OEM and 1 new Aisen. Each, $ 65.00 or all 3 for $150. I'll throw in a replacement boot and grease. Ask me why...

Ok... Why?

And as well, why should I crank them down? The truck actually rides nice and does not do the Caddillac Bob anymore. With carrying the excess weight of the Winch and the bumper, should I have it cranked up a little?

It was the first one for them. Since it was the first one, the price was just between Chris and myself. Chris says he will be putting it into their regular line up soon.

The ride should be just fine - mine was too - but there is a penalty. From the pictures you posted it looks like you have a pretty steep angle on the CVs. That angle on a continuous basis and with the added rigors of turning and a lot of travel puts a heap of stress on those joints, as well as prematurely wearing the protective boots. As sasaholic suggests and when I was running IFS your boots are more likely to tear and start puking grease and potentially damaging the CV joint resulting in failure.

For that reason I always carried a trail spare to swap in the field. In any event I usually ended up rebuilding the axle at least twice per year. Decreasing the angle on the shafts will decrease your risk for that happening. That's part of the reasoning as to why I did a SAC.

Don't make that change and rest assured I'll make you a good deal on half-shafts. ;)
