So after reading how most drill the rivet out I decided to try a different method. I'm no good at drilling so it wasn't even an option for me lol. I took my 4.5 electric grinder with a grinding wheel. Used the skinny side and went to town grinding the head of the rivet till it disappeared.
Than I took a big hammer to the back of the hanger and hammered it off to what was left. A couple of numbs. Which I also grind down to the frame. Finally at the point where we can drill. I used a small drill bit the size and drilled a small hole in each numb. Doesn't have to be centered. Got lucky and the hole happen to be the same size as my punch. With a punch locked in. I hammered away and poof the rest pops out the rear
Than I used a 1/2 drill bit to enlarge 3 of the 4 holes. (One isn't used). Than I bolted the SFK up so I can center punch the 3 additional holes needed to drill. Once marked I left the SFK and used a small drill to start the hole. Took the SFK off and finished drill the holes with the 1/2 drill bit. Spray some self etching primer on and bolted the SFK up.
Tip from my good friend Sean who has the prototype kit told me to grease the shackles before installing them or they will make noise.
Once greased up and bolted the shackle to the new hanger and bolted the leaf spring back up. Just to be safe i let the extra threads of the bolt point away from the frame just in case the shackle does travel upward to the frame/hanger
I used the rear most hole and with the truck full unloaded and empty gas tank. It is almost vertical but it still rides good. Once truck is loaded up the shackle should have a nice angle to it. As you can see the leaf spring is pretty close to bottom out to the overload spring. Haven't flex the truck out yet and unsure how much this will affect up travel. Overall I gained a solid 1 inch of lift with archive garage 6 inch shackle upgrade.
