I dont get it...apparently i'm the only one here who thinks this vehicle is butt ugly.

Dont get me wrong, i love the Ruby options and a stretched wheelbase, just cant deal with a 4 door Wrangler and that redesigned front end.

I hope everybody trades in their 05-06 Rubicon Unlimiteds...and drives the resale value down. :jump:

Function over form amigo :sombrero:

The same reason a G-Wagon or 70 series LC looks like the most beautiful rig in the world to me.

C'mon, afterall, the Unimog looks like one of those dogs where you can't tell the butt from the face...and heck, I drool over those things...the Unimog I mean.

BWAHAHAHA!!!! Drool over those things. hilarious! Good catch by adding "Unimog I mean."

Let's not be too limiting. If certain butts and faces have a reasonable amount of form over function, you'd probably drool over those too. Maybe on them.

Well, having the opinion that the new Wrangler is ugly is perfectly legal. And honorable, John! Beauty is in the eye... But I'll bet that it grows on you. I, too, find something odd about the details in the new design (like the top, fender flares). But I also think my reaction is to the change in design from the beautiful TJ, and not really to the new unit on her own. Rage! Rage against the machine that brainwashed us American consumerists to dislike change! Grrrrr. :smilies27

I'd argue that even the TJ looks ugly in some respects, though.

I had the opposite reaction where I didn't really care for Jeeps at all. Not that I thought they were ugly, just... ubiquitous.

I guess b/c I just like wagons so this Jeep seems really cool. I like the styling too. Offroad tough looking w/o the Hummer stigma

Hey, didn't Jeep have a Renegade at one time? :costumed-smiley-007

which v6 diesel for jeep?

Autoweek reports that Cummins is planning to produce two new diesel engines for light trucks. The smaller is a 4.2-liter V-6 that produces 190 hp and 455 lbs.-ft. of torque. Dodge will put this engine in its RAM 1500 light pickup. It would fit under the hood of the new Jeep Wrangler, too.

However, Jeep has already announced it will use the new Mercedes V6 diesel in the Grand Cherokee. It's a 3.0 liter V6 turbodiesel with 215 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. The 4-door Wrangler is about the same size and weight as the Grand Cherokee, so I'm thinking it makes more sense to put the Mercedes V6 in the Wrangler, rather than the Cummins V6.

Damn 455 ft.lbs. of torque in the small Cummins! :wings: I wish they would choose that motor!

I was the same as Life_in_4Lo I never really liked Jeeps before this one.

That much torque, I would think they would need a beefier drivetrain, say a Dana 60 or thereabouts. Which would be sweet....but....

I think the Mercedes is probably a better call. Actually, European Wranglers will have the CRD available. Whatever that one is will probably be the diesel the US Wrangler gets...IF....it gets it at all....

tell me that is not just SWEET!

They might revoke my TLCA membership for saying this, but I'd take that 4door Rubicon over the FJCruiser based soley on appearence. I'm sure in the hands of a seasoned driver they're equally capable on the trail.

And it's a convertible.....:sunny:

Hmm, good idear with that Defender...I bet someone will probably make a 'bedcover' for the rear, and I bet a good tube bender could do a big ol' external cage/rack like that, too. Hmmm. Sweet!

A lot of the Jeep purists are bemoaning the new model (not all of them, though) but I think this model could prove to be the most popular EVER. At least with this crowd. Halfway got me believing with all the action this thread has that come next year, it will be White JK's rather than Taco's that are the standard....;)

(The View 360 is in small print on the right side, about 1/3 of the way down on the page)

Nope, you're not the only one. Butt ugly is my assessment. Even with a diesel, no way.
