High Lift Jack Mount & Northstar TC800

When I add a camper I will lose my toolbox, so thinking on where to mount my high lift jack.

Anyone ever use one of these: http://www.hi-lift.com/accessories/tube-mount.html ??

Anyone ever mount a high lift jack on a Warn Transformer grill guard?

By the way, we stopped by and looked at Northstar TC800 campers yesterday. Could work, has anyone ever been offroading with one? Do they hold up? Do the drawers and cabinets stay closed?

I don't have one, but have studyed them, as well as other makes of pop up. They are a good value, but have a lot of partical board in them. Others have said that they off road just fine...but I wonder about the sturdyness of the partical board.

Northstar more...

Exactly, this is why I am hoping someone who has used one (hopefully roughly and severely) can let me know how they hold up.

They are certainly priced well (http://www.fivestarrv.net/showroom/index.php?action=detail&stock_number=N-3215) and I like the layout and they have a lot of storage. I also like the external access to the rail storage which it seems all other popup manufacturers have abandoned. Seems incredibly practical to me to be able to access the storage between the bed wall and the camper from outside the truck. Also seems incredibly practical to be able to put folding chairs, tables, shovels, maybe the high lift jack, fishing poles, winch recovery stuff, recovery strap, tools, etc. in that space between the truck bed wall and the camper.

All the stuff I always take with me gets a lot easier to store than with other manufacturers models. As best I can tell, the TC800 is the only model left that allows one to use that space as such.

I took Bill Burke's winch and recovery class in Slaughterhouse Gulch yesterday; pretty good. Got my winch stretched out.

Tires did well on the little bit of off road we did. All in all a good day!

Looks great! I hope you're enjoying your Trans4mer and winch!

Tornado

Saw this off I-70 just east of Quinter, Kansas on Monday afternoon. It had just touched down; got a lot bigger and crossed I-70 milliseconds after I went by....

Camper Fridge - 12v Compressor vs. 3-Way Refrigerator?

What does anyone know, or experience does any one have, between the 3-Way Refrigerator and the 12v Compressor Refrigerator?

I have had a lot of campers/trailers with the typical 3-Way Refrigerator but have never had the 12v Compressor type. I understand the concept (I think) but what are the drawbacks?

What is the actual measurement of your tires? I am considering a set for my truck. How do you like them as far as noise, wear, and street driving. My truck definately sees more street than dirt (for now anyway) but like most people on here I like having the piece of mind knowing my truck will get me not only where I need to go but where I want to go as well. My last truck was a V8 and at 4000RPM my BFG A/Ts would clean out no problem and never left me stuck in the deep stuff. Now with my low RPM Cummins I may be looking for something a little more effective.

33.3 inches tall and skinny.
I have had many sets of BFG Mud Terrains and I like them. They get real loud after about 40,000 miles. In the end I always replace them at about 50K not because they are worn out in terms of tread but due to noise.
Have to rotate them often to get 50K out of them.
They do well on the highway (I think) and well in snow if it is powder. Not so good on packed snow but not many truck tires do well on packed snow.
What I like the best is that they are almost impossible to pop. Never had a blow out or even a slow leak with one. They do well off road.

As far as how the BFG MT's handle on the street; it is a solid axle 3/4 ton truck. Tires will never be the limiting factor on handling.
However, on trucks and Jeeps I have had them on I think they handle just peachy for what they are.

Not a Porsche.
