2010 4r75e 2wd to 4wd help

Im converting my van to 4wd and am in need of a little help in figuring out which housing extension to get to mate my NV273 transfercase to my 2010 4R75E transmission. I already had the longer shaft installed so that's done, just need the extension housing part number and/ or just what it comes off of.

Thanks!!

This is my 2010. I just took these pictures out on my driveway.
I’ll take better pictures in a couple of days.

Awesome! That just looks like the 4r75w extension housing which i suspected would be what I needed.

Thanks!

My van is a 2010 and the transfer is a 271 (manual version of the 273 I think). As you can see my housing was not a perfect match since 1 bolt is misaligned, but it works and have no leaks.
Yours seem shorter. Does it has the mounting flange for the crossmember?

No and that's where the problem lies. The transmission shop I took it to wanted it to have the correct extension housing for that year but obviously it doesn't have the mounting flange for the crossmember and it won't mate up to the nv273 or nv271. They noticed that the one you have on wouldn't line up with the bolt holes in the transmission so they didn't want to put it on there but this being a custom application it now makes more sense to just use it and not worry about that one bolt.

They did say they could pull all of the guts out and put it in an older style transmission housing to be able to use that extension housing but that seems a little Overkill.

Yep thats the part number right there! Thanks again and I hope this helps someone else out when converting their van.

Hey Josh - I think there was a hole I had to drill in the adapter on mine. Chris at U-joint told me about it. I'll see if I can find the details.

Thanks! I've just opened up these holes in this extension housing so the 10mm bolts that came out would fit and then got some longer 10.9 rated 10mm x 1.5 bolts to attach it with. I just have the one hole that doesn't line up but oddly enough it appears that i could drill and tap the transmission where that hole is if I wanted to.

Just went through this: from ujoint drill and tap is what is recommended.
The 'extra' hole is for connection to the 2wd housing.

The transmission shop did not want to let it go without drilling and tapping.

There is 'tecnically' a different housing for 09 and up.
However They are all the same...all require mod to tranny.
None of the oem 4wd housings match up 100%

Pretty sure a late 80's AOD Bronco tailhousing will work just fine. May need the odd indexed bolt hole to be drilled out like the others.
That tailhousing should share the same transmission mount (or at least location) as the 2WD.
This is going off memory of working on Broncos and V8 swapping Rangers many years ago. And some van work a few years ago. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. The AOD tailhousing should be littering any pick and pull yard in the country.

I am reviving this old thread. Does anyone know what output shaft to use for the 2009- and up 4R75 when using the output shaft of RF-3L3P-7A040-AB? My transmission guy said that the 2009 and up output shafts have different oil port locations on the shaft which makes him think he can't use the older style shaft even with the older style tail housing. Does anyone know the correct deal with this?

You ever get an answer on this? Im about to convert using a Quadvan parts kit and I'm going through the transmission/tc mating planning now. Thanks!
