I was wondering why the USA model has the fuel tank and the batteries on the same side and not offsetting each other?

in some ways its probly better that way- you get the entire passenger side free. on the dualcabs the batteries are better on the curb side though, coz thier under the cab.

Everyone takes it out of me at work because I like the Twin Otter!!!

Chocko....you crack me up. Those things are about as close as you can get to a 4wd Canter bus with wings.

Didn't realize you finally took that aviation job. Well done mate. You'll love it. I know I did .

Regards John.

...BTW I heard that a large expedition truck from one of the more common European companies was built recently with a custom 145 litre (38.3 US.Gal) DEF tank. Certainly a sign of things to come for trucks intending long distance or expedition-style travel in third world countries where DEF may not be so readily available.

You can get the Freightliner M2 stock with a 23 gallon DEF tank. I've been looking at the M2 on the GXV site for a DEF tank, but I think it is EPA '07.

I wrote to Mitsubishi Fuso USA to clarify the single or two speed transfer case issue. It took 2 weeks, but I finally received a reply:

"2012 Canter FG4X4 (FGB72S) uses a single-speed transfer case.
We thank you for your inquiry."
Leighton Good, MFTA

For owners who require a lower gear, Fuso offers an optional lower final drive ratio. Stock final drive is 5.285, optional is 5.714, or about 8% lower. Choosing the lower ratio will affect your highway cruising speed and fuel economy, however.

Personally, I think that Fuso is a reputable company that tests its products during development. So I'm inclined to believe the company when they say a two speed transfer case is not needed with the automatic, even for off-road driving.

maybe in another two weeks they can answer why this site:

http://www.mitfuso.com/en-US/Vocations/Off-Road

says that it has a high and low range, as you noted at the top of the previous page, Chip.

Definitely not digging the idea of not having low range. Guess I would have to drive one to see for myself, but its unlikely I would ever buy a new truck with all the electrical nonsense on them nowadays.

Thanks for the update.

Has anyone found a Canter at a dealer yet? They were supposed to be out about a month ago. After calling several dealers, I was told end of April instead of end of March??

I am guessing that the delay would be a result of the current chaos in Japan. :(
I expect we are all going to feel the ramifications of this for some time yet.
