To be fair...I have had my Phoenix since it was new in 2003 and have never had a single issue with it. Not one leak and I have never had to re-seal anything. Just my experience, I know it is in contrast to others, but there are some good ones out there. I have owned several other brands prior to the Phoenix and find it to be a pretty good product.

Yep, my experience with Phoenix has been outstanding as well. Mine is a bit younger that yours, 2011 model year, but unlike many campers, mine actually sees A LOT of major off-road duty cycles and extreme temperatures. It’s been baked in the desert, frozen in the mountains, shaken, twisted, gone through torrential downpours, vibrated to death on wash board roads and not once have I had one single issue with any of Phoenix’s craftsmanship. The only single issue I’ve had with my Phoenix was with hot water heater igniter, which that failure is a component failure of the heater supplier and nothing to do with Phoenix.

The most interesting thing about the person that rallied up all the sympathetic bystanders to help her kick dirt in Phoenix face sold her so called “problematic” Phoenix camper and bought a completely different class of RV. She went from a pop-up truck camper to a Class B RV. That is a pretty BIG change! That leads me to believe she was in the wrong type of camper from day one, had buyer’s remorse and tried to rally up reason for Phoenix to buy it back. Her thread smelled funny from the get go but she was successful in rallying up a bunch of sympathetic fools to help her bash Phoenix. Very sad.......even sadder because I can pretty much guarantee you the owners and moderators of Expedition Portal would not allowed that thread to go on had it been a FWC. Guess big advertising and sponsorship dollars make a difference. Piss on the little guy

If I recall correctly, the "her" was a dude, a vet in fact, and his camper was a POS

I went back and re read the post that I believe you are referring to, right in the first post he mentions that he was torn between a class B and the popup truck camper, before he bought anything.
Not really my battle, but just because you had a good experience does not mean he didn't have a bad one, and it sound like he gave the manufacturer plenty of opportunities to make it good.

I bought a brand new Phoenix this year, after reading the "mytaco" ladies (it is a woman, and she IS a veteran) thread, and weighing the pro's and con's. My experience has not been perfect, there are some problems, but in general the thing is working great for me, and I drive in some pretty harsh conditions.

The main issue I have is with cabinets and hardware. One would think, if you are ordering a custom camper and tell the builder about ten times that you do a lot of off-road and Forest Service road travel, that they might think about what kind of closure to put on drawers and cabinet doors. Obviously not. The drawers flung themselves against their slides so hard the first time I went down a two-track that the slides exploded and the drawers (and their contents) were flung all over the inside. The main cabinet doors just will NOT stay closed on any kind of corners at all, and one of the shelves was not screwed in correctly and fell down, crushing some of the contents of the cabinet. I am getting all of this fixed, I head out to BC in a week for some extended soft-road travel.

Other than that, it's been only minor issues. The top is awesome, super sturdy and leak proof. The fabric part is very well constructed. The plumbing is the best I have ever seen in an RV and I've owned a bunch of them. The wiring is competent. Anyhow, I wish people wouldn't let one extremely vocal disgruntled customer completely trash their view of an entire line of campers.

Nah, “He” was very much a “she”. That is one of many illusions going on with that thread.

I don't know if what you state is true or not but have you ever heard of a FWC having as many problems as was experienced on the Phoenix?

I have only heard of one major problem with a FWC. Owner discovered poor frame welds so it was replaced with a new camper. No one censored the thread on it and the customer got 100% taken care of plus most people seen that as a good reason to buy a FWC.

Maybe if Phoenix took the same responsibility for issues with it's campers the way FWC does, they could have made it right for the customer and gained respect for fixing it and gave potential future customers confidence in a purchase. As it turned out, I'd bet they lost a lot of sales instead.

Op this is a great reason to put your for sale ad in the classifieds instead of the discussion section. I'll bet you would get much less critique there.

Mytaco has moved on. Maybe you should too Larry. Good for you for not having issues with your camper.

Look hero, posts 2 & 3 instantly started making suggestions back to that train wreck thread as did post 6 so don’t start with me about moving on until everybody drops it and moves on. There are 3 sides to every story and I trust somewhere between her story and whatever Phoenix would have to say about that ordeal lays the truth. In the end, I feel Phoenix unfairly got their name drug through the mud and I feel it is complete BS. That is not to downplay the quality or features, advantages and benefits of each competitor, as I feel they all have outstanding products (FWC, Phoenix, ATC, Hallmark and even XP sorta fits in the same category). I don’t think any thread regardless who’s brand of camper it is should be allowed to go on like that one did when it is just the view of one person on a tirade looking to drum up trolls to help with the bashing. You can find fans and foes of any brand of anything if you really look around.

I agree to the Original Poster of this thread, classifieds would be a more appropriate place for this advertisement to avoid unwanted chatter

Larry, Had I known my gender was an issue, I would have disclosed upfront. Sorry. That being said, in my 26 years of service, I deployed four times, to include during the first Iraq war. I started researching TCs upon my return from Afghanistan. In my enlisted days, I was a SERE instructor--meaning I had to complete all of the schooling to be chosen to teach survival skills to other military personnel. Hopefully that will add some to my credibility as a WOMAN, Larry.

On that note, I would like to also state that I've only reported how my (former) TC worked out for me. Others have chimed in too with their experiences--some good and some bad. I was upfront with Rob and Cari about how I was going to use the TC-- the entire goal was to road trip across the U.S. They held themselves out as experts in the industry. Ironically, the TC. didn't even hold up for highway travel, so expedition quality use seemed odd from this maker. All in all, I have moved on--and very happy that someone has found a use for it, and that I now have a reliable unit. I wish the new owner nothing but positive experiences and memories with his (her?-- or does that really matter) new TC. They have certainly received a better TC than the one I initially received.
