If you're not doing an aux gas tank, I think the best place is on the other side of the drive shaft from the regular gas tank. (where a couple of the aux. gas tanks mentioned above go).

That way the weight is extremely low, but it's also centered between the front and rear axles, rather than hanging out over the rear as in the rear cubby option.

Yeah, I'd rather have it inward as well.

Almost done installing.

It's been a while since I've been able to install a bumper on my own, without any struggles.

I must be getting strong, or my equipment must be getting lighter.

I can't believe how light this thing is.

Looking good, Matt --- and happy birthday.
Neat bumper. But it's another one of those items that I can't reconcile pricewise in my head.

I just read your wax article. Have you tried Nu-Polish? I swear by the stuff. Works great. Doesn't wash off. Lasts a whole year. It's zinc based so you can apply it in full sun and it keeps rust at bay.

Nu Finish has its place in the car detailing world. Is it the best out there...no. There are products from Collinite, Pinnacle, Mothers, Meguiars, P21S to name a few. If you have several days to waste check out autogeek.net

Fuel cell will be added at some point but farther down on the priority list. I have no problem keeping water mounted in a low center of gravity area such as the rear of the JKU. Jeep CJ, YJ, TJ's have been carrying there gas tanks in the rear for years so I'm good with it and the Gen-Right has a HD skid plate while hanging no lower than the factory muffler...
Another thing I have used over the years are weight scales on each corner of vehicle so you can see how the veh is balance front to rear & side to side while loaded & unloaded.

I went with the Meguiar's, I'm sure there's better products out there, but this certainly did the job.

Now about that Boeshield T9...

Nice build thread, the Jeep is coming along nicely.

The detailing article on the front page brought me here so... as for detailing, while proper product is definitely important, proper application is just as important. You did well with the Meguiar's products you chose. The M7 Mirror Glaze adds so much depth it's ridiculous (hard to capture on metallics/silver though!) and so is a worthy additional step. It can be a bit difficult to remove in humid conditions and you don't need much otherwise you'll be spending a lot of time removing excess!

One thing I would recommend with any new vehicle (and maybe you did this) before applying polish/sealant/wax is to clay bar as even new vehicles have a surprising amount of contaminants embedded in the paint.

Hilldweller, Protect All is great stuff, I've used it for a long time now after a friend turned me onto it at his motorcycle shop for spray cleaner/wax. Since then, I've used it on everything and it is great for quick detailing/wipe down, matte/satin type finishes and wheel cleaning/waxing, bug removal, etc. It's similar to Honda polish and/or Next Dimension Original Bike Spirits though I prefer Protect All for it's cleaning prowess and excess seems to wipe away without any streaking.

Thanks!

It's certainly not cheap, but when you actually get the unit in hand it all starts to come together. People pay just as much for a roof rack these days.

Putting a full size bumper on by myself, with no hoist or jackstands was pretty cool, especially because I did it with no strain what-so-ever.

It also didn't lower my front end.
