Lots of progress over the last week. Insulation is completed for now. A few blocks up top are left open, pending whether I commit to solar or not. Wave 3 heater installed. Smoke/fire detector and CO. Fire extinguisher is gonna just hang out
un-mounted for now. Got a couple tie downs installed as well.

Headed over to 395 later this week for some camping and fishing. If you see me, stop and say hi!

Nice looking build there Mr Wrath. mThat insulation must make a big differance. Too bad the camper pop top does not have insulation. ? I like the Iron Maiden in the cab. You ROCK!? Cheers, Chilli...?

Had an awesome trip over to eastern Sierra to fish. First night On the East Walker temps were down in the teens. Insulation and heater definitely made it more live able. Wouldn’t say it was warm inside, but definitely warmer than outside! After that night headed to Bishop and had some luck on the lower Owens..

Lessons learned from the trip.
1: Insulation very helpful. Need to complete and cover it. This will reduce/eliminate the thermal bridging going on.
2: Wave 3 heater was really struggling in the teens at altitude. It still kept the inside considerably warmer than outside, so overall happy with the installation. Will go to a wave 6 or some sort of forced air if this becomes more common conditions.
3: Tailgate sealing needs to be addressed. Have a few ideas, just need to get time.

Catalytic heaters aren’t known to perform that well at higher altitudes, just fyi.

Yeah I knew that going in. Not quite ready to commit to a forced air setup (although I have engineered some space for one).

I have the exact same truck and I am stoked to see this build progress as I thought about putting the same top on. The only thing that's holding me back is I pretty much need a dedicated bathroom in there. Done a lot of research and with a 1500, I don't think there is anything out there that will allow a bathroom while staying within the GVWR of the truck.

@VernonBC Slide in campers of any size blow through our payload. hence why we got the OVRLND. Cassette toilet and a hot water source wouldn’t be difficult in here though, plenty of Toyota guys do it and they have probably 2/3 the bed volume we do.

Decided to address tailgate sealing. Basically built a frame out of angle aluminum and installed weather stripping. Also doubled up the factory door seals. I’m sure in most places the factory stuff is sufficient. But with the bed rug, and moving back to a very very rainy place it needed beefing up. It’s not very pretty, but I believe it will be functional.

I did. Used 1” VHB tape.

Since I’m in a shelter in place county, on an alternate work schedule. Getting some projects done with all this extra time at home. Lagun table! Tabletop is 13”x18”.

Also mounted up a propane bottle holder. Got it from fishfighter. Seems like they make stuff for grilling on boats and what not. Bungee is some material I had laying around. I’ll probably make something cleaner to keep the bottle tight.

Nice! What do you plan on for paneling over the insulation, if any? And how to you plan to attach it?
