Agreed on the TrailReady wheels. Idk why people don't run them more often.
My GUESS would be the wait.
Almost all are built to order and very few people want to wait 2-3 months for a set of wheels.

Thx for the feedback. What don't you like about the Toyo AT2, and Falken Wildpeak?I’ve had a set for a little over a year on my work truck. They are a good tire, work well on snowy and wet roads. A tad louder than the AT2, but not loud by any means. They are wearing very well and I would compare them with the falken wildpeak act’s I had on my power wagon.
No, i tend to drive more careful than most i think.
My point was to express nothing is bulletproof so the beefiest version of whatever you're looking at is usually the best choice.
My unsolicited advice to you is to WAIT and 100% hold off on wheels and tires until you get camper on and get it 100% fully loaded for a trip, THEN weigh it and make decisions based on the numbers.
As you're already seeing, the weight guessing game isn't a winnable game!
Take a step back and let everything else fall into place, and then get wheels and tires that will give you a 10-20% safety buffer for the weight.
Building things to be just under or right around GVWR doesnt take into account the rigors off roading.
When those GVWR numbers are calculated from the MFG, they are basing it on asphalt driving not being loaded up and going down dirt roads. A whole different ball of wax and additional stresses are applied.
Wait until you get the camper on, FULLY loaded, then start looking at tire/wheel options!
Give yourself a buffer.

I just looked at those Innov8 wheels you mention. Holy $$$ Batman!
If you're looking at that much $ for wheels, also check out Trail Ready Beadlocks (Made in USA, DOT approved, available in cast and forged options, and lifetime warranty option)
Although they'd be an obvious lead time (which we all hate) they do a ton of custom work for any offset or size you could think of (Except for 10 lug options, this was my first idea for my wheels).

These are what we ran on the race truck with BFG T/A Project tires, and beat the snot out of them without issues.

I think the price scares many away.Agreed on the TrailReady wheels. Idk why people don't run them more often.
For now as Kevin mentions, it's a moot point to guess my corner weights and look at tires. I'll wait until my camper is on, everything loaded in/on, weigh it at 2 scales for accuracy, then decide on 17"tires or 18" tires/wheels.
What don’t I like… that’s hard they are both excellent tires that have done great for me, I can’t find a complaint on either tire.Thx for the feedback. What don't you like about the Toyo AT2, and Falken Wildpeak?
Glad to hear your driving isn't as reckless as your typing fingers are--ZING!
Copy on the beef!
You won't believe this, but I'm following your suggestion on tires. It's herding cats to try to guess what my weights will be, and if my tire of choice will be up to the task of supporting the unknown weight.
And fully agree on Trail Ready; great people, we already work with them at work, and they're 30min east of here (they're now owned by Buckstop, and all the TR mills are inside Buckstop now--so you can jump for joy). Crappy thing right now is that Larry's (TR's original owner) ace custom machinist just "retired" the other week, and they're looking for another machinist to build the custom wheels. That being said, they can't do 18" as their aluminum supplier can't provide them with that size, but they can do 17" and 20". I also don't remember their load rating so would have to ask again on that.
I think the price scares many away.
In the mean time, since I updated my post in the D/E load tire thread (where load index is the key information, not specifically D or E load; https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=35), for all of the data/tire nerds, here's an easier view of the tire data I'd been looking at;
37x12.5x17 D/124 (there is a 37x12.5x17 F load in the table too, but it's data looks to be the same as the E load; 3195lbs/F/121 from 50-80psi);
25____30___35___________40____45___50psi
2150_2470_2755(C/116)_3005_3250_3525(D/124)lbs
37x13.5x17 (D/121 or E/121);
25____30___35____40___45____50___________55____60___65psi
2205_2550_2835_2955_3075_3195(D/121)_3195_3195_3195(E/121)lbs
37x12.5x18 E/128;
25____30___35___________40___45____50____________55___60____65psi
2095_2395_2680(C/115)_2915_3150_3415(D/123)_3590_3795_3970(E/128)lbs
37x13.5x18 D/124;
25____30___35____40____45___50psi
2150_2470_2755_3005_3250_3525(D/124)lbs
37x13.5x18 E/128?;
25____30___35____________40___45____50_____________55___60____65psi
2150_2470_2755(C/116?)_3005_3250_3525(D/124?)_3675_3820_3970(E/128)lbs
Since I want to focus on 12.5"W for myself due to Carli's recommendation, and the 37x13.5x18 is worst case for me, let's compare these 3 only;
37x12.5x17 D/124;
25____30___35___________40____45___50psi
2150_2470_2755(C/116)_3005_3250_3525(D/124)lbs
37x12.5x18 E/128;
25____30___35___________40___45____50____________55___60____65psi
2095_2395_2680(C/115)_2915_3150_3415(D/123)_3590_3795_3970(E/128)lbs
37x13.5x18 E/128?;
25____30___35____________40___45____50_____________55___60____65psi
2150_2470_2755(C/116?)_3005_3250_3525(D/124?)_3675_3820_3970(E/128?)lbs
IF the 37x13.5x18 data in this link(https://tirepressure.org/flotation-tire-load-inflation-chart) is valid, then both the 37x12.5x17 D/124 and 37x13.5x18 E/128 allow more load than the 37x12.5x18 E/128.
As well, the 37x12.5x17 D/124 and 37x13.5x18 E/128 offer the same load capacity up to 50psi.
ONLY after 50psi does the 37x13.5x18 E/128 offer more than 3525/lbs per tire capacity; 3675lbs at 55psi, 3820lbs at 60psi, and 3970lbs at 65psi.
So if my actual corner weight is less than ~3000lbs (so I have ~15% buffer room), then either the 37x12.5x17 D/124 and 37x13.5x18 E/128 should work well for my use case.
For now as Kevin mentions, it's a moot point to guess my corner weights and look at tires. I'll wait until my camper is on, everything loaded in/on, weigh it at 2 scales for accuracy, then decide on 17"tires or 18" tires/wheels.
Whatevs TacoKing.Good call!
Then when you get your 13k GVWR you can start the tire choosing process all over again, but for duallys!

Ok, good to hear. A few previously had mentioned that the Falken Wildpeak wasn't great in heavier mud(of course it's not a true mud tire). It's also only a 2ply sidewall like the Toyo AT3.What don’t I like… that’s hard they are both excellent tires that have done great for me, I can’t find a complaint on either tire.
It isnt a mud tire, but it cleaned out pretty well with some wheel spin. I got my falken s in some heavy clay, they did gum up, but didn’t hold the mud like a bfg at. The Toyo at3’s, I can’t comment on them in mud.Whatevs TacoKing.

Yikes. Sorry to see this. It’s become insanely common in my area and many cats are on forever backorder from the dealers. Hopefully you can get this resolved asap.
Mine is super exposed, obvious and would be super easy to steal, for now I’m just hoping they don’t drive by my house before I get my side boxes that will somewhat hide it. I live on a small street and about 1/3 of my neighbors have had either their cats stolen or fuel tanks drilled (yes, that’s a thing now). Sucks.
A couple weeks ago, a few miles away a dude stealing a cat had the jack collapse and car crushed and killed him, so that was kinda cool. Wish it happened more honestly.
In other news:
Rushing a tire decision for a photoshoot is the pinnacle of “Overlanderisms”.
You’re a legend in that aspect sir
You said crack heads… as a police officer I’ll correct you, those are meth heads now. Lol
the gas tanks being drilled and drained is a new one.
Society is collapsing and it’s sad
