2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

I am used to Toyotas...at 80K they are still considered new. Wouldn't hesitate buying a Toyota with 100K on the clock, and proceed to put another 100-150K without much issue. A Jeep or Ford would be very leery owning one out of warranty.

Have some friends with JKU's....cool vehicle, but build quality is a little so-so.

We replaced the Escape with a 2018 4Runner Off-Road Premium. It will be fun to compare and contrast the JK and the 4Runner first hand.

Not a fan of the ecocrap or TFL. I think I will keep my 4Runner for a long time. An then just may buy old used refurbished after that. All this electronic crap, lane warnings, fake shifters, stop/start tech, has me longing for old school and reliability. I must be getting old.

Yeah, seems like every new model release the dumbing down of vehicles gets worse and worse. I keep on looking at old Cruisers...

...I know of a FJ45 Pickup roaming around town here,

I rode in a 2nd gen pickup the other day and, you know what, I have zero interest in going back to a 40 series. I'd probably have a tough time going back to my 1991 at this point. For all the complaining we do those old vehicle would be torture to drive any significant distance now. I am getting fuzzy on how I survived cross country roads trips and then it occurs to me - I was 24 friggin' years old so I didn't know better and was resilient. Nope, not interested. If I had to replace my truck now it would be with another 2nd gen, if possible.

You would probably have less money into a new Ranger than the Fj45 by the time you sorted everything out. Old vehicles aren't super reliable, they are just familiar and easier to work on. Which is good because you're going to have to work on them!

I was just looking! Geeeeeez! :p:D

I dunno know about the latest and greatest though. Was riding in my friend's Sprinter, it has lane departure warning. Was annoyed after the first 5 minutes..."Hey man, can you turn that BS off...?"

man I am the opposite of some of you people, my first vehicle was a 1938 Plymouth and I have had a heck of a lot of different vehicles since my first one and as much as I think it would be nice to have some of my old cars and trucks back there is no way I would go backwards. I set the cruise on my 2018 wrangler at 80mph drive straight thru to Moab hit all the trails and turn around and set cruise back on 80 and arrive home with out even checking the oil. I did test drive a new tundra trd and it did not do anything for me. I sat in a Tacoma trd pro but it was cramped inside and I am only 5'10" 190lbs not sure how the big guys would fit in one.

I don't know if anyone else listened to Car Talk, but Tom and Ray have said the Japanese took the fun out of driving. When Honda and Toyota started selling cars you have a pretty high probability that you actually get where you needed to be, when you needed to be there. Which in the 1960s and 1970s wasn't a foregone conclusion with Western auto makers.

@jadmt, my first car was a 1956 Plymouth and as much as I liked old iron the reason any of them lasted was pure brute force - a ton of steel and being simple machines there was nothing to fail or you couldn't fix with a screw driver and hammer. The hammer was key because final fitment of anything dictated its use.

I looked at 89 Blazer this week end. It was super cool. I was kindly reminded I have enough hobbies. The taco lacks cool points but it always starts.

My buddy has a 69 Chevy truck and a 12 taco. He had two tires. Chevy never goes more than 50 miles from the house. The taco never goes to the grocery store.

I have learned to love my old Ranger. It was really rough compared to my '10 Tacoma and I was suspicious at first to buy a 25 year old truck. I knew the only owner though (my barber) so I pulled the trigger. It has 189,000 miles and still runs like a top. No rattles inside. Very solid pickup and I get 25mpg running 75 on the freeway.
My Ranger is a mouse compared to the new Ranger. I see them all the friggin time here in El Paso. My truck is a small truck. Those aren't small... For the size and the money I don't see why folks wouldn't just buy a 1/2 ton? The F-150 is a pretty darn versatile pickup.

I recently switched from a 2008 Canyon to a 2018 Sierra. The Canyon was definitely more fun to drive (and park) in the city. It just felt more nimble. It was right-sized for my needs. It towed what I needed to tow, and hauled what I needed to haul.

But, when it needed replacement, pricing, and passenger comfort did push me into a full size truck. It eats up the highway miles, and tows like a dream, but it feels a little ridiculous to drive such a big (empty) vehicle to the mall. It feels far more fat and bloated in the city than a midsize truck. I'll admit, the extra bed space has been nice, and the V8 power is good, but in many ways it is overkill for my use.

I don't even dream of taking my Sierra on trails I used to run in my Canyon either. The increased size is a big penalty on tight trails.

Oh, then GM went and made the 2019 Sierra even bigger....

Andre say the sticker on this decently equipped crew cab STX is 31k, not the extended cab shown, betting you could get 10% off so its a 28k truck. I haven't priced equally equipped half tons.

There are a lot of modern features I like...however it is getting a bit ridiculous. Was driving my buddy’s VW wagon...it brakes for you, I think I know how to use the brakes thank you very much. Found it quite annoying. All the recent nannying devices I am finding are bothersome, just let me drive the damn vehicle! Quit mothering me! It is like have an electronic back seat driver.

Of course the day is coming we won’t be allowed to drive anymore. Seems like we are trying to make ourselves obsolete.

on my wife's CRV all those features are easily disabled and turned off ie the braking and lane departure and the following too close etc. On the other had I see idiots texting and driving and just driving with their heads up their asses and I am glad they have auto braking :).
