2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

The fake v8 sound is actually pretty nice from the driver's seat. Most people buy vehicles to please themselves do they not?
Exactly. I hate noise. I want a vehicle to be quite. That's the best thing about electric cars!

The fake V8 noise is just fake noise. A 3.5l ecoboost is higher output. Why would someone want their truck to sound like a lower output motor?

Don't confuse sound and noise.

because for some people me included a V8 has the right sound, maybe it is an age thing I am pushing 60. No 4,or 6 cylinder no matter how much faster gives that nice v8 sound. I run and bike along the road and there is no nicer sound than a V8 rumbling on by. Kind of like a harley, almost every crotch rocket is faster but they just don't sound the same. While an eco boost 3.5L leaves the current crop of V8's for dead in a drag race, without help they just don't have that V8 sound. funny thing is when a Tesla rolls by it just sounds so freaking boring makes me feel sad.

I read a thing once that explained why V8's sound so good and it was because the firing impulses replicated the mothers heartbeat that a child hears in the womb...probably bs but it stuck with me lol.

I still think Ford blew it. The Gladiator is already rated for more payload and towing. Ford could have owned this segment. I'm sorry guys but I'm tired of America getting the watered down version of every bad to the bone vehicle from overseas.

We only get screwed in the mid size market. Our full size trucks rock.

I can't get a gladiator in an access cab with a 6' bed so as far as I'm concerned Jeep doesn't own the market. They don't have what I want.

The Gladiator isn't out yet, so there is still some speculation on what it will and won't offer. But by outward appearances, it does to be very similar to a Jeep JL with some obvious modifications.

It might be capable, but it will still come with all the problems that are inherent to Jeep and the JL platform:

At the end of the day, I think FCA makes a decent weekend warrior toy....it's debatable whether or not some of their vehicles are durable in the longterm. Maybe the US Ranger won't be much better, maybe it will. The overseas Ranger has a pretty decent reputation as a robust offroader....I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Payload and towing #'s and 0-60 times and other paper stats don't mean squat if the vehicle can't reliably function over the long term.....

That video popped up on my youtube home page. I just couldn't click on it when that guy is wearing those short shorts lol.

I don't consider myself a Jeeper, but the guys over on that channel are pretty entertaining and also put out some informative content on DIY 4x4 project stuff.

As well, I thought it was interesting that the guy, a self-proclaimed Jeep loyalist, was so frank about the JL's shortcomings....most of which are related to build quality issues.

Yeah the build quality issues are a little disconcerting, mainly the frame welds. Hopefully they fixed them or will soon.

I'm more concerned with all the electro gizmos

Agreed. But for me, if my vehicle doesn't have a V8, I'd rather not have a fake sound piped in to sound like it does.
I have a 2018 Platinum and I find it embarrassing to have the noise piped in. I don't like fake people/things. If I knew it did this I would not have bought it. Yes there are other things I don't like but this is just shameful.

I am going to watch it today. I bought a tj in 2000, my first new vehicle purchase, and it was good to me for 2 years until I realized I really needed a truck.

Turn it off with FORSCAN. Then turn off the TPMS system, and the seat belt chime.

I plan to, just haven't found the time yet.

What is wrong with TPMS? I wear my seatbelt so no issue with the chime, I have never heard it.

TPMS is terrible. It's winter here, so I only have 55psi max in my tires. Have to deal with a giant orange obama light until I get FORSCAN.

And it takes a while to get from one end of the campground to the other, I don't need my belts for every single errand.

At least the new traction control works better than an LSD, almost makes up for it.
