2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

ok I won't argue with you. I guess I needed to be specific, I am talking about the tank size of the Ranger which this thread is about lol. I am not comparing it to any other vehicle I am strictly pointing out that for me the rangers tank is too small. I have no interest in what any other vehicle does. I strictly was interested in the Ranger and how far it will go on a tank full of gas. an 18 gallon tank is not big enough if you are towing and getting 10-15mpg. It might be fine for you but for me it is too small. Knowing how big the tank is and how much real world mpg I am going to get tells me exactly what I need to know.

Out of curiosity - what is your benchmark vehicle / requirement for range?

Nice to go at least 400 miles without having to worry about filling up. A new F150 with 3.5L with 36 gallon tank is good for over 600 miles driving 75mph across Montana. Slow down and 700ish miles and even pulling a trailer around 300-400 miles.

That is one of the cool factory options on the F150 for sure - no OEM trucks can compete with that range. My old VW TDI was in that same ballpark, 600+ miles with a meager 14.5 gallon tank, but it got 45+ MPG.

I couldn't get past how small they are. Ex cabshort bed had a wheelbase the same as a Honda Accord parked next to it.

Great news for people that like that.

Finally saw one of the new Rangers today.

Saw my first one couple weeks ago and got to sit in one last Tuesday. It felt comfy for my 6 foot 200 lb size, had enough headroom that I don't get with a Taco. They only had the crew cab in stock I'am looking at the super cab because the 5' bed is to short IMO and I don't need the rear seats. It looks better in person than in pictures I thought, will have to take one for a test ride when I have more time.

The wheelbase on them is 127" which is 6" longer than my 1991 Toyota truck and the same as my Tacoma.

That's close to a regular cab F150 with a short box (122"). This ends up being just about the right compromise for having some cab space and not like piloting a battleship on trails. The long Tacomas are about 140", which is about the same as longer cab and/or bed F150 at 141" or 145" depending on configuration.

Smaller dimensions are sort of the point to getting a smaller truck, though.

I just saw one at Costco. Nice styling and fit and finish seemed to be good. Too early to tell on this one.
Looks challenging for a 6'4" like me to get in and then there's the small bed..

I see one just about every day at a farm local to me and I think the proportions look good for a crew crab midsized truck. It is silver with the FX4 package. I was next to him at a stop light the other day and for whatever reason he floored it when the light turned green and I was impressed at how fast it was; he probably was impressing his buddies that were riding with him.

Cheers

I'm the same height and have no issues. Yeah, the bed is not ideal, but it's the compromise we gotta make to have something that is manageable length wise....for me, its all I could fit in the garage. There is always the access cab with longer bed....

I stopped and looked at one today and they do look much better in person. seemed plenty roomy up front for my average height and weight.
