2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

That $50k price tag (before sales tax - although that one is in MT which I believe doesn't have sales tax) is the reason 33% of Americans have negative equity in their vehicles. I have 5 vehicles (2 are antique military vehicles so don't really count) and only 1 car payment. The only reason I have the 1 car payment is because my paid off F-250 was stolen and the insurance wasn't enough to buy another one outright. I will drive the 3 I have into the ground before shelling out that kind of money for a replacement. Sure it'd be nice to have all the new bells and whistles but I'd rather spend that money on enjoying the outdoors rather than on the means to get there.

yes luckily no sales tax in Montana but they get us in other ways. Yes the price to me is insane for a little truck. Be a heck of a nice truck at $30,000 not so much at $50,000. I got out of there before the salesman made it over to me. I should have stuck around to ask him why someone would have to pay for the upgraded tires from ford and then pay premium for the aftermarket tires and rims. they could of at least showed a credit for that.

I have no problem with someone buying new or having a payment but too many people live their lives around a car or house payment (or both). One small thing can go wrong and then you slip further and further behind.

What is the national debt up to these days? 22 Trillion and counting? Our country itself isn't a very good role model. ;)

Pretty sure our fiat currency propped up on credit economy would crash if everyone were a cheap SOB like me. :)

I feel bad for the suckers stuck with a Platinum. Literally twice the price of a loaded Xl. For nothing.

It's the same truck. Once you ruin the cheap leather, break all the chinese widgets, and scratch up the chrome, it's worse than the base model. For the price premium, I'd expect a stain resistant Aston Martin interior, not Hyundai. If you haven't tried an XL or XLT, try one. There's a certain feeling of freedom of knowing that you don't have to strip naked after a simple hike to keep the interior clean.

That is what I love about my truck, have been prepping the garden lately and fussing with early spring yard work, doing dump runs, etc. So nice to jump in wearing my muck boots and not give a flying *******

If I brought one of those $50K Rangers home, I could see my 70 year old neighbor making fun of me.

"Hey, why aren't you using your new truck?"

"Don't want to screw it up..."

"Why did you buy a truck then!?"

"Good question..."

"Hey, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for that?"

"fifty thousand"

"What!!?? For that!!?? You **************! They got you pretty good! Did you at least get kissed!!??" ha ha ha ha...

I suppose it's a state of mind. I've never paid that much for a truck but I've paid what for me was a significant amount of cash and I neither abuse nor baby my truck. I'd suspect a person who buys even a new XLT would be fussy about keeping it clean and throw in floor mats you can wash out and all that nonsense. But I'm not going to apologize for washing and waxing and occasionally even vacuuming out my truck either. Mechanical sympathy.

I keep mine fairly clean, just washed it a couple days ago, but not afraid to use it either. If I ran out and dropped $50K on a little truck, would feel too guilty to use it though.

Don't even have to spend a lot of money on something either for me to take care of it. Paid next to nothing for our Trooper, but it is in excellent condition. So it gets babied, nothing gets hauled in it....trying to keep it nice as long as possible. It doesn't even see dirt.

I dunno, I guess I don't have a problem buying something potentially expensive and then using it for its purpose. I wouldn't buy a high end spec truck in the first place, there's no value in the accessories for me. Spend as much as is necessary but don't overspend. But $50k, $24k, $5k, it's just an arbitrary number. I would no more feel good about buying a worn out S10 just to abuse and break it, but $1,000 is still a lot of money to me to waste.

This makes me atypical of most Americans in this regard. They're perfectly happy spending the least amount for junk they replace every year when instead they could have spent more on something that might last or be repairable.

I know it's nice to sit all smug and point at someone who buys a $50k as some sort of tool, but there's no reason to stereotype. If a fella buys a brand new truck and keeps it 15 years and uses it who am I to judge? I see plenty of Lariats and what-not beaten up on ranches, it happens. Anyway, so what if the first owner wants a nice truck? All those 80 and 100 series Cruisers with leather and navigation are getting well used by the second owners now.
