2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.
The output for the 2.3L EcoBoost engine covers a really wide range depending on the vehicle. There is plenty of power left on the table when they roll off the assembly line.

280 hp (209 kW; 284 PS) @ 5600 rpm, 310 lb⋅ft (420 N⋅m) @ 3000 rpm
2016–2017 Ford Explorer

285 hp (213 kW; 289 PS) @ 5500 rpm, 305 lb⋅ft (414 N⋅m) @ 2750 rpm
2015– Lincoln MKC

310 hp (231 kW; 314 PS) @ 5500 rpm, 320–350 lb⋅ft (434–475 N⋅m) @ 3000 rpm
2015– Ford Mustang EcoBoost

350 hp (261 kW; 355 PS) @ 6000 rpm, 350 lb⋅ft (475 N⋅m) @ 3200 rpm
2016– Ford Focus RS[48]
2016- Zenos E10 R[49]

385 hp (287 kW; 390 PS) @ 6000 rpm, 369 lb⋅ft (500 N⋅m) @ 3200 rpm
2016–2017 VUHL 05 RR

The 2.3 comes with forged pistons, rods, and crank as well as other goodies carried over from the Focus RS. It can hold hundreds more HP/TQ than Ford ever builds it with.

My '01 GT Mustang had 260hp and 300ft/lbs. It felt fast but the numbers seem kind of lame now, lol.

I do t think the Ford is a good truck to handle off road. It’s pure competition but until they match that little thing to the raptor it’s not going to sell too well

I was saying in general to the new ford ranger. Personally I guess I’m not a fan especially when Chevy released the ZR2 amd Toyota still holds the line with their tacos
They all have pro's and cons that you'll need to weigh based on your needs. The ZR2 has poor payload and towing capacities relative to both the Tacoma and Ranger. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "holds the line"....but the Toyota has it's + and - like any vehicle does.

I think the Ranger certainly holds it's own against anything else out there, not necessarily better or worse, but dependent on what you need / want, which is what swayed me towards it.

Regarding the Raptor, I don't see the draw for expedition use personally. It would be great for high speed offroading in the desert, but will likely get less MPG & Range and offer much reduced payload and towing capacities, all of which is important if you have your rig loaded down with gear.

Yeah...except for the fact that Zr2 isn't that great and the Tacoma is out dated, over priced, and under powered.

I do agree with all the above. I was saying that Toyota holds the line by having the best selling midsize truck around. It is nice though that companies are coming back out with their midsize. We do need more on the market. I’m really looking forward to the Rivian to hit the market.

Yeah, Rivian is super exciting and really interesting. I've read they are aiming at $60k, but if you get upgraded batteries, high HP motors, etc., I'm sure you'll be in the $75k+ category pretty quick. With that said, you are obviously very limited for travel in out of way locations....like say Baja.

So the Ranger payload I've seen tossed around is about 1800. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the zr2 has poor payload though. According to the spec sheet the ZR2 has a payload of 1503 lbs. The Z71 shortbed which is probably closer in line with the Ranger is spec'd at 1619 and the Z71 long bed which gives the ability to sleep in the back as it's roughly the length of a full size bed is 1805 - the same as the Ranger number I've seen though there isn't a spec sheet I can quickly find at Ford.com.

For comparison the Tacoma Off Road short bed is spec'd at 1175, the Off Road Long Bed is spec'd at 1120, and the Pro at 1175. The chevy looks pretty good on paper honestly.

The forum isn't letting me upload screenshots because files can't be written to the server for some reason but either way you can check those out if you wish.

I wonder if they will have some sort of solar charging kit for those trucks but then again you would probably need more power than what a little solar panel and produce to ramp it back up.

Man I do agree. I own my first Tacoma ever and because of the little power it offers I am thinking of going back to a full size truck. It’s nice for certain trail situations but that’s about it. On the jump just even at an intersection there’s a lot of lag in the down shifting and up shifting of the automatic. It is okay getting up and around obstacles but does lack considerable power.

looks like Tacoma holds its value much better then anything else in class. personally I have looked at all 3 and ZR2 would be my choice if I were going this route. Buddy is a tech in a large Ford dealership for 38 years and he said after seeing them all day long they don't do much for him but he did say they are selling the crap out of them.
