2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

I’ll have to look into that. I can see them using the gladiator frame. I’d still like to test drive one of those too. The dealers where I’m at in western KY do t have any yet except for special orders.

I though I read somewhere it would share the chassis with the Gladiator as they are to be built at the same plant but, now I'm not seeing anything. Maybe I'm wrong there.

MPG update - have done a couple longer road trips (5,500 miles on rig so far), have gotten 400+ miles out of a couple tanks and getting a reported 26-27 mpg which pencils out, on average to be 25.X mpg on those longer road trips. That is 65-70 mph, keeping up with traffic. I've gotten more on a net descent drive (30mpg) driving consciously and less with a 20mph headwind (21mpg). I run premium and have experimented with non-ethanol. Non-ethanol seems to net me another 1 mpg or so.

Agree - $10k more than a Tacoma or Ranger is a bit difficult to swallow.
I looked at an XLT Super crew ranger and a similar Sport S Gladiator last week and the difference was closer to 15K.

I'll be curious to see if after all the enthusiasts pick up their Gladiators if sales will drop off due to the price discrepancy?

Wow, $15k!

Maybe it's just me, I can see paying a premium for a Wrangler to be honest, but for a pickup, where most folks value capacity / towing & hauling capability, seems like a tough sell, all you are getting is a solid front axle at that point and maybe a manual trans.

With the full size / HD rigs nobody pays (much) more for SFA or Manual trans, it's all about load capability.

They are cool, no doubt about it.

I'd be willing to pay more since you get SFA and the top and doors come off. But not 15 grand more...

Can you even get a full size with a MT anymore? I thought they dropped their MT options unless you go for a 4500 (1 1/4t) truck?

You can still get a Dodge 2500/3500 with em'.
I thought Ram dropped the G56 for 2019.

I believe the irony here is that a decade ago manuals could handle more power than an automatic but that flipped recently and engines exceeded the clutch holding capacity. There just aren't enough sticks being sold to justify scaling big truck designs down to medium duty.
