You guys have fun with this thing. A friend of mine is the lead mechanic at a Land Rover dealership. I asked him about buying my wife a new Range Rover and he told me that I'd be an idiot to buy one. They are that bad.

Another friend's wife just had to have one. She bought it a couple of weeks ago and three DAYS after driving off the lot the entire dash just shut down. It's been in the shop for a week and a half.

Another friend had a last body style Range Rover that he bought brand new. It needed a new engine at 45,000 miles. LR told him tough ********.

All I can do is shake my head. You people thinking you can rely on any new Land Rover way off the grid are kidding yourselves.

I prefer to rely the facts of JD power surveys which paint a different picture based on huge numbers of owners.

Not to disrespect your story in anyway but speaking honestly, My brother's sister's uncle had this happen doesn't really cut it these days when there are statistical facts available.

Also looking at the evidence self most people that actually own new-generation Land Rovers on this forum and other Land Rover forums everyone generally raves about them.

Problems per 100 vehicles are down by a huge percentage over the last 20 years.

In the UK where Land Rover offer the diesel and so does Toyota in their 4x4s, Land Rover pretty much match Toyota in the dependability study.

Another tease at the Burghley horse trials running at the moment.
Showing more rear wheel travel than Goodwood from memory.

Do you believe in Santa ? I do,
Since you think that Land Rovers Reliability Matches Toyota’s I thought I would ask.
Im not interested in getting personal, just sticking to the facts.

As above in the uk where both LR and Yota sell diesel 4x4s (not just petrol like other markets) they are pretty much on par.

I just love these one-off stories that apparently sum up an entire company.

Following this logic based in my LR4 with 90k mikes which has been, bar none, the most reliable, maintenance-free vehicle I have ever owned, LR must make the BEST autos in the world!

There seems to be a growing consensus on at least one other site that he is a paid marketer. I was extremely skeptical of that, but given content like this, the number of sites he is posting on and his avoiding a specific denial of that allegation - it seems more and more likely.

Haha..You mean defender source where 50% of users are NAS owners are worried about their values and can't accept positive opinions about the new defender. The thread on the new defender got put in the mud pit, locked from public view because of the lack of moderation and terrible behaviour of some of the members towards others opinions, that rubbish is not tolerated here mate.
Same story, when people can't provide any facts they resort to attacking the person.

Comparing your MUCH simpler LR4 or the wildly simpler equipped LRs offered overseas to the current American Market offerings means nothing. Current American Market LRs are significantly more apt to end up in the shop than other "overland" vehicles. If you think otherwise, you are walking around with rose colored glasses on. And if you think that the only Defenders available won't be just as luxury equipped as any other American Market LR, good luck with that.

Not interested in an e-fight. But I do note the continuing lack of a denial.

how should I believe in your facts when 90% of Toyota Land Cruisers ( say 100 series) are on the road with 3 times higher mileage and selling price compared to same year Range Rover?
Market doesn’t lie, JD poweres does.
To argue that Land Rover May have a chance to be as capable 4x4 is something that can be entertained but to say Land Rover is as reliable as Toyota competition is delusional.

North American land rovers are guaranteed to be one of the most unreliable vehicles in USA.
You may convince me otherwise but there are 350 million others You have to convince.

@150.000 miles Toyota needs oil change,
At 150.000 miles 80% of North American Land Rover vehicles are being sold for 800 bucks or they have been dismantled already for parts.

I love your enthusiasm ( or paid advertising) ?? towards new defender, but come on man.
