Let’s go already!
Hopefully mods don’t cae about our truck preferences, and are instead worried about ad hominem attacks and paid posters. As for the truck, it would seem the majority of LR enthusiasts are not real excited about the new D. As stated on other forums, Defender fans are probably not LR’s market or focus group. Upscale buyers and those wanting mod cons are what the truck is aimed at IMO.

I am actually more excited about the Gladiator than the Defender. More of the truck I would want for less money. Plus my wife really dislikes the photos she has seen of the new Defender.

I will be keeping my Tdi’s and Tdci, and not staying up to watch what is now a non-event on the 9th.

Edit: just did some research.
Tdci Defender 110 - towing capacity: 7,719 lbs/3,500Kg. - payload capacity; 2,490 lbs/1131Kg. - Ground Clearance; 250mm/9.8in.
Wonder what new Defender ground clearance is riding on bumpstops due to error or air loss?

And the new 130 has same wheelbase as new 110, but added rear overhang. Will destroy departure angle for that model.

But if you like it, that’s cool too!

Anyone else think this looks like it already has Angry Eyes? It looks like Pixar made an upset SUV and it should be talking about hating snow.

Well, I like it. Or, I like the idea of it.

It's a serious tourer:
  • It puts Troop Carrier payload (or nearly so) on a more nimble platform:
    • Its 2000 lb payload exceeds (sometimes by nearly twice) Rubicon, Gladiator, 4Runner, LC200, ZR2, Tacoma, Tundra TRD, Power Wagon, and on and on;
    • Add to this decent trail nimbility and good dirt road manners and we have a very serious tourer;
  • Excellent ground clearance;
  • Capable four wheel drive system;
  • Option of coils (not air) on all four corners.
I'm skeptical of its reliability and dislike its styling, low profile tires, lack of live axles, and electro-gadgetry. But as tour-ready vehicles go, this would be a serious and uniquely capable offering for the U.S. market.

Not having a go, but imo saying someone that is passionate about LR or the new defender and posts for the benefit of others is a paid poster is an "ad hominem attack" just something to think about.

Some sweet shots, in highish quality bar the vid screenshot.

Grab handles visible in middle shot.

Bottom shot is reversed with ladder and snorkel.

So does this show abs flares? This is a surprise for me, I was worried about the wide arches and damage.

Looks like LR are going hard on accessories too

Just had some time to have a good look at the leaked article.
Some specs stood out to me.

900kg payload(might vary with less seats)
900mm wading(might vary up or down with air/coils?)
300kg static roof load
38 approach
28 ramp
40 depart (angles will vary with air/coil)
2380L luggage space
3720kg towing*(vary?)
5,6 or 7 seats
294kw 550nm straight 6.
Software over the air.
Wireless charging
Clear sight ground view
Huge dash storage?
Side storage
Side ladder
Expedition rack.
95% new D7x architecture, 3x stiffer than body on frame.

Blackrangie,

The stats are great and I’m sure it will be great off-road, but if it’s not aesthetically pleasing, sales won’t be there. Almost everyone I’ve shown it to say, eh, it’s okay, which translates to I’m not spending $65k on it.

Your mum doesn't count haha nah jokes, we shall see, im tipping 100-200k sales within a few years, compared to the current defender @ 20k per year.
Aftermarket will back it because of the scale and markets its being sold in, my dealer(just 1) told me today he has 12 preorders including me sight unseen, he said thats out of the ordinary.
