Noting there are various puck heights available. Factory chooses original puck height based on the original purchasers pickup make and model. Dealerships can get other puck heights, but most people simply use hockey pucks or strips of livestock mats. Strips of livestock mat can be stacked to get enough height. You only want to support the camper under the extrusion (perimeter of the footprint); Not support directly under the main floor composite panel.
Having adequate clearance between top of pickup cab and bottom of camper cabover is important. You want a few inches. Pickup beds flex considerably different than the cab, as the pickup frame flexes, so whether you are pounding through the rough or slowly articulating, you don't want the camper and cab only 1" apart or they will get a very unwanted introduction to one another. Ha.
Clearance between camper and bedrails is also needed, of course, but that clearance can be closer because the camper and pickup bed mostly move together.
