2021 F150 Tremor Thoughts?

I didn't even think to ask if the Tremor will only realistically be available on 302a and higher built trucks. Wouldn't surprise me if they are forcing a crew cab on you.
The upfitter switches would be rad, was always curious why only offered those on super duty.

Oh well. My next F150 is likely to be a 300a SCAB 2.7 PP with RCI skids and Falcon piggy back shocks and some 33" AT tire. I've gotten this far in life with an open front differential. But at current truck prices will likely be a few years yet. Can't justify 45k on a truck plus all the mods on top of that.

It will be Supercrew shortbox only with a 3.5. It's not a package like on the Ranger or Super Duty. On F150, Tremor is a trim level like a XLT, Lariat, Raptor etc...

400a will be like an STX, 401a will be like a XLT 302a and 402a is like a Lariat 502a.



Good question, I lost patients trying to figure it all out. I think it's just the 8", according to the online build sheet the 302A I couldn't add (see below) is 8", but so is the 301A that I had to include:

*Edit - it looks like you need at least a Lariat to get the 12"...
Maybe a US /Canada difference thing? Looks like the 302a gets the 12" screen here? (last line)

Yeah good catch - 302A is 12", I just saw the 8" I highlighted before but now I see the Sync 4 w/12"....not sure what 8" productivity screen is....

Backing the conversation up a bit - back to the tailgate step: I have the Amp Bed Step on my F150 and use it all the time. I never warmed up to the idea of Ford's tailgate step, because it required a couple of motions to deploy for use, and it didn't seem compatible with using while a load was on the tailgate (ATV, etc). I loved the corner bumper steps on my GMC because they were always ready to use. The Amp bed step is similar - deploys or stows with a kick - and is well worth the cost.

Those are cool - especially considering how tall trucks have gotten these days!

Potentially. Unless you had issues with a factory turbo or other powertrain component and Ford figures out a way to blame it on an the aftermarket intercooler. There is inherent risk with modifying any vehicle under warranty. I also dont like the idea of dropping $50,000 on a brand new vehicle only to spend money on an intercooler when it could be spent on a fridge, or camper, or some other travel related expense. Your mileage may vary, and i certainly wouldnt fault anyone who decided to put in an aftermarket intercooler, it just isnt for me. Cheers


Lol... I totally get your point....buuuut if they try to blame anything on an aftermarket intercooler.... The first step you should take is finding another dealer to go to...haha. There is nothing in them that can fail and there is no way they can cause anything else to fail...lol. The factory intercooler is pretty sad, which is why the Raptor and the Limited have dual electric fans mounted behind theirs. Other than a tune...an intercooler is dollar for dollar the best mod for either EcoBoost.

It also only takes 30 min to swap an intercooler, so you could easily return it to stock before putting it in the shop. ;-)

I have a very large (Chinese clone of a Wagner) intercooler on my F150 and it's been amazing. My IATs are 10-15° above ambient temperature, with the OEM intercooler the IATs regularly were 40-50° above ambient temperature. Higher IATs = timing gets pulled and you make less power.

I hate the way Ford packages options.
I’d want the hdpp which requires the hd tow package also but that would force me from a scab to a screw and all of a sudden it’s a $8,000+ package, and I don’t need a crew cab. It doesn’t stop there though because all of that doesn’t include tow mirrors, which are a $400 option, but they require another $500 in accessories to get. So I’m at $900 for fricken mirrors.

My current truck is like an old version of a Tremor. 2012 XLT 3.5lEco Supercrew ShortBed 4x4, Bilstein 6112/5160's, 275/70r19 General Atx. Unfortunately the poor truck has lived its entire life in the salty mess of Wisconsin winters. The body is rusting faster than i can keep up with it. Only 120k on it and i dont plan to get rid of it, however when i do get a second vehicle it will be demoted to my hunting and, "truck stuff," vehicle. I really, really like the Gladiator Rubi- but with two kids, two adults, and 100lb fur missile the payload capacity is tough to ignore. We do travel really light (wife and i were avid backpackers once upon a time), but even so i dont like the idea of riding around at or are very close to payload capacity all the time. Thus we are considering a Tremor as an alternative.

Why i like the 2021 Tremor:
>Locking rear diff - Current truck has open diffs.
>Limited Slip front diff available
>Decent factory shocks
>Aluminum body (Ruuust)
>3.5Ecoboost - I have the 1st gen so I'm familiar with the platform, its issues, and quirks of the engine.
>1885lbs of payload - nearly 500lbs more than my current truck.
>Fuel range - My current F150 has a 36 gallon tank, or roughly 500miles between fill ups. I assume the 21 Tremor will be similar or better.

My hopes are that it can be factory outfitted with a winch like the Tremor Superduty. Im doubtful because it comes with the 3.5L Ecoboost as the only engine option, but a guy can hope. If it can be ordered with a factory winch, its very nearly a turn key rig. Toss a camper/tent and a fridge in the back and go - which would be awesome for a guy with a family. I like building out vehicles as much as the next guy, but spending that time traveling with my wife and littles is waaayyy more important to me.

Current trucks does have the option for a locking rear diferential..... I am considering the same as you but as there properly won't be many incentives on the Tremor I'm thinking just to build one myself on a 2021 for with the Ford factory racing suspension package..... tires.
I will loose the limited slip front diff.... but I suspect I can save 10k if I strike it right.

You can get an Eaton e locker for the front for about 875 plus install. I would much prefer that over an lsd in the front.

Honestly asking here. Serious question. How many have actually needed a front locker on the trails in a full-size pick up? Things are fairly sticky out here in the west. But maybe mud slogging east coast may be different?
