heck big block trucks did no better. I had a 1991 Ford with 460 and a 1996 GMC with 454 and they were gutless but todays standards. Even worse I had a 1983 Z28 with a 305 that was like 165hp and my wifes 2016 CRV is faster 0-60 lol. They all felt fast tho so everything is relative. funny now my 2020 6.4 hemi feels under powered.

He said yesterday he got a text saying it would be at the dealership between the 14-21st of this month. Ford has been impressive in this regard.

That's awesome. I would appreciate some feedback on what he says about the truck. I keep going back and forth like a ping pong ball its not even funny. Surely a hard decision to make.
My dad finally pulled the trigger on selling his '19 cummings and ordered a ranger 2 or 3 months ago but the order got canceled. Then they sent a letter saying all the specs he ordered were transferred to the 2022 model - so the 2022 ranger is no different, no surprise.
Back to the new truck idea. There are many reasons I keep going back and forth. One of which being haven been recently told last week that a couple parts I was looking for (one of the idler pulleys) was nowhere to be found. As in not manufactured anymore either by Ford or aftermarket. There is already a couple other parts I have looked for in the past that are also not manufactured any longer. Which is an issue for me. A person can always make something work...or manufacturer it themselves. Or in the case of pulleys, push out the bearing and match up a new bearing and be good to go. However - I'm not so sure I want to be dealing with that sort of stuff anymore. Call it aging, or call it lazy...whatever. It's an amazing truck this 'ol 7.3. However, even the new 7.3 gasser has almost the same power as the OBS - although with a lower mpg rating when loaded, but with more comfort and features at the cost of potential reliability issues.
That being said, the 150 is intriguing also as I dont expect to haul a camper or tow on a regular basis. Maybe twice a month during the summer months and shoulder seasons for a slide in camper, and mostly home projects for trailer towing. I believe a 150 would handle it being at max capacity - although of course a 250 would do it better. A 350 probably is excessive for my actual needs. I like the solid axle of the 250, but the comfort of the 150. Each has it's pro's and con's. Both come to about the same price when built as desired. Then again, the OBS works as well, just with continued issues and struggles as parts become harder to find....

wow that was quick. I saw a bunch of super duties on the highway yesterday. They looked pretty good. But holy air dam that is huge lol
my dad was just told his ranger will only take 1 day to build. The entire thing. And assembled in wisconsin I think. Its the quality control inspections and shipping to the destination via rail that takes so long. Thats quite impressive they can assemble in a single day so long as they have all the parts available.
when does your friend get to pick it up?

he left this morning to get it. I have not heard back from him. Not sure if they are staying the night in Billings are going to head home as soon as they pick it up.

Your right, the early 2000’s had some very good reliable vehicles. My buddies 03 2500 hd with the 6.0 is still running perfect, I know a few people that have 7.3 diesel ford trucks, all stilling running great.

Oh and a 4 speed trans you had to lock out of fourth gear for towing.
