2023 Ford Raptor- Continuation

Is it riding season yet?
So a bit of a whirlwind couple weeks, I ended up installing air bags the day before I left, which turned out to be a very good idea. Went over a scale for fun and truck and trailer fully loaded was 12,371lbs. Never realize how heavy everything is, but that was food, fuel, coolers, gear, big flat deck trailer, two big quads, dirt bike, 60 gallons of fuel etc etc etc. Total for the trip ended up being 5800km on the truck, 631 on the ATV, and 229 on the Dirt bike. Weather was stunning, average daily highs were 75-85f. Absolutely awesome couple weeks!

EDIT: I forgot the fuel economy, for the trip it was 20.5 l/100km, which is 11.5mpg, running ~85mph. If I dropped to say 65, it would obviously be dramatically better, I would think.

In no particular order;

Loaded and condition of the rig after driving through a nasty snowstorm the day before, while still in Canada. Air bags at 45 PSI and still a slight squat. VERY tongue heavy trailer.

Truck all cleaned up, in Phoenix on a re-supply run about half way through the trip.

Just leaving town. You can see the houses in the distance.

Nothing like being pinned wide open through a fast desert wash and coming accross a mini (~3 foot) dry waterfall at 70mph... lean further back, stay pinned, and hope. Took a break to let the adrenaline calm down a bit after lol.

(I don't know if build quality will change with a slide in camper)
THIS ^^^^

Exactly, the best part of a trailer is the frame and suspension, the worst parts are the same for a camper or a trailer.

F150s have great towing capacity, not so great payload capacity. I'd never put a camper into an F150. Look for an open toy hauler type trailer with living accomodations, Most of those are reasonably simple and well built. Popup or Hardwall style.

My vote is for a Jumping Jack trailer:

I had one for a couple of years. Very well built, very rugged, and can haul two ATVs. Pretty epic for its size.

Quite a curious thing regarding payload actually, (NOT TOWING, just rated payloads) a good friend of mine has a 2019 Ram 2500 cummins, and his payload rating from the factory (coil springs + heavy cummins) is 1,980 lbs. My F150 payload rating from the factory (leaf springs) is 2,050 lbs.

With that said, i'm still leaning towards a nice 30' toy hauler at the moment. I really want to find the perfect solution before I spend that much money, as I have somewhat of a bad habit of selling stuff quickly (at a loss, obviously) a few times before finding what works the best. I'd rather avoid that, if I can.

Might be able to find a Livin Lite toy hauler used, or an .... ATC maybe it was makes giant toy haulers out of aluminium.

Keeping an eye out. I looked at a Jayco toy hauler (*maybe it was forest river? Can't remember...) and it was setup perfectly, but seemed to be built so, so cheap.

Grassland, you appear to be in Canada as well from the posts in your build thread?
