2024 RAM 5500 Camper Hauler Build

Looking good! I sold my 4500 and have a 5500 that looks very similar to yours now.

Stazworks is a couple hours from me and John gave me a tour last summer. I don’t think they routinely modify mrap wheels any more. Their 2 piece are milled from forged blocks of aluminum in house.

He told me both military and civilian tires are fine for the bead and I can confirm civilian tires work.

You can get a 91/95 set. Benefits are 95 looks a little better under a typical 96 wide flatbed. More importantly the 91 wide front does make a difference in clearance at lock. Downside is a slightly different track width.

Option 2 is a 93 wide square setup. I have plenty of clearance with the AEV fenders and a lift so went this route. I have 40” civilian tires on these for a winter setup. I have continentals on hutchinsons for when I need the weight capacity. These are 96 wide square which is pretty aggressive. I need to run about 4-5” of lift to clear these at lock.

Well we have the new wheel adapters on and installed. Track width is exactly the same front to back (90" wide outside to outside) but I now have a slight rub on the sway bar at full lock. Plan is to add approximately 1/8" shim to the steering stop. It will reduce the turn radius slightly but should be minimal. My question for anyone running the super singles is how do you do your tire pressure monitoring system? Is there a good aftermarket system you recommend or how did you adapt the factory sensors (this is the preferred way I would like to go if possible).

I can't speak for super singles but I did add TPMS to my 2022 4500 which still runs duals. I could not get it the sensors to register with just two sensors in the back. Once I put the sensors on the remaining 4 wheels it registered immediately.

So my thought would be drill a second set of valve stems in the rear wheels and put both sets of sensors in there. Truck won't know the difference.

Well we just got the truck back from Kelderman Manufacturing last week. What a difference. They were amazing to work with and couldn't recommend them enough. We ended up going with the 4link in the rear and 2 stage front suspension. Next on the to do list is finish fixing up a bigfoot camper we picked up to use until our coustom camper is finished.

I'm using the factory TPMS sensors, but just four of them. The inner dually sensors aren't on the truck at all. I get a very brief TPMS sensor warning message when I start the truck, but everything works great after that (no warning lights).

Also worth noting that the truck won't automatically relearn the sensor positions when you rotate your tires. A flat on the rear will show up on the dash as the front or vice versa. This is just a minor nuisance since you're going to stop anyway and investigate.

If I remember right, there were two different TPMS options available on my 2020. I got the more basic of the two because, and again it's been a while, it allows you to air down without an annoying message on the dash. I routinely go down to 30psi with no problems at all.

The biggest pain in the butt for me with these reversible Buckstop rims was the lack of dual valve stems. Crawling through the mud under the rear to connect air hoses got old REAL quick. Install a stem on each side if you can. And make sure they clear the front brake caliper.

Thanks for the feedback. Not sure I can use the factory sensors on the DBL 2 piece wheels but I am planning on investigating that once we need to replace our tires. For now we went with a cheap pressure and temp sensor that screws on the valve stem. It's a chaina special but gives us a reference to go off of. Here is a link from Amazon if anyone else is interested

I am certain the temp portion is off they tend to read 15 degree warmer then the ambient temp while driving. But like I said it's a reference to go off of.

Ok I know it's been a bit but there has been progress. We got the truck back from Kelderman Manufacturing a few weeks ago after having them install the fron air bags and rear 4 link. Wow what a difference in the ride. It feels like your riddingin a half ton pickup now. We also love the dump feature when loading up the pickup camper....... yes we picked up a 20 year old Bigfoot camper and have been busy working on renovating it to sit fully on the flatbed. Picture of the truck is from Kelderman. At this point we think the truck is close to being finished only some minor updates to make like the AEV intercooler skidplate (on order) and beadliner in the tool box compartments / deck.

Well the renovation of the camper is almost completed... well good enough for a trial night out. Here is a few shots of the truck and camper from this past weekend. Still working on getting side boxes from stable camper for under the wings. Anyone know where I can get some graphics made up for the camper it currently looks like a white billboard haha.
