Where to start? Well, BTDT with solid axle swaps and oe solid axle rigs, still own two.... love em'. Independent suspension has always intrigued me, though. The problem with oe independent suspension has always been designs that have short travel, swaybars for good handling, and thus limited articulation offroad. Not to mention by design they are weaker than solid axles.
Step in Toyota's 200 Series Chassis developments, KDSS swaybars and HD independent suspension systems (relative) with good travel. The KDSS system is the key here, all the performance of swaybars w/o the restrictions... banned by FIA in Dakar and WRC because it was too good. Add IFS that will cycle almost 12", or long travel at 16", a stock multilink IRS that will cycle over 15" metal to metal (say that again so it sinks in), King IBP shocks that will allow softer springs w/o bottoming, and we have an interesting combo.
Also, the Tundra is huge, it's never going to be Wrangler running narrow trails. So why build it like one? It's time for something new.
