3.0L Int'l diesel update

I had a chance to put 400 more miles on the FJ60 project vehicle, with the new 3.0-L turbodiesel and 5-speed.

Our first mileage report was disappointing, as I reported in the first post, but my second run was much better. With mixed town, dirt road, and highway, it came in at 25.8 mpg - more like what I was expecting!

I'm still going to re-gear it, and we have some odd noises and rattles to track down, as you'd expect, but so far it's still thrilling us every time we drive.

Are you referring to interior rattles and noises?

Yes, but there are these other strange noises that happen when I'm parked somewhere or just pull up to a group of people. Perfectly otherwise normal people walk up to my window grinning silly grins, making diesel-rattle-rattle-rattle noises. Very odd.

Just caught up with the finished project in the OJ. Fantastic build and I'm glad to hear it's only getting better!

Thanks! Will have more extensive information in future issues.

Right now working on interior cargo area, painting the Tuffy console to match the interior, and installing fridge and 2M and tie-downs in the back.
